Re: Deus Ex: Human Renovation (fan patch/mod)
Hi G-Flex, nice someone put various fixes from different mods together. I was playing with a similar idea, but I’m a bad coder, so I’m glade someone else had the same idea. i noticed you also build in the autosave feature form DXv2r11 by Lork. General its i nice feature, but it can get very annoyin...

Re: Deus Ex v2.0 - An unofficial fan patch for Deus Ex (HELP
I just tested it and it is indeed a little less than 60%. While I still find the actual gameplay benefit of that extra speed to be negligible at best (it's more about overcoming a certain threshold than a linear comparison of speed), it is true that run silent isn't rendered totally obsolete by the ...

Re: Deus Ex v2.0 - An unofficial fan patch for Deus Ex (HELP
Yikes, has it really been almost a month since I've done anything here? Life can go by pretty fast if you're not paying attention. It looks like I'm going to have enough time to actually do some of this now, so I just thought I'd address this: I'm curious: how would people suggest fixing the speedau...

Re: BioMod - A new gameplay mod building on Shifter
I wonder if Mr. Lork still visits this thread. Yeah, I took a break from modding for a couple months, and even when I started thinking about coming back, people here didn't really seem that interested, so I haven't looked at it for quite a while. Sorry about that. Modern style health regeneration :...

OK, so, things that I'm looking at implementing soon: ? Hazmat suit doesn't protect against fire/electricity/etc. (description says it does) I think this one's a no brainer. It makes sense that it would protect you from those things, and making the hazmat more useful could hardly hurt the game balan...

Also, I've gotten exactly zero requests to have write access to the google code project, and I KNOW some of you are quite handy with code. I really, really want this to be more than just a "me" project, if for no reason other than the fact that I am, after all, occasionally a flake. A lot of the fi...

Re: Deus Ex v2.0 - An unofficial fan patch for Deus Ex (HELP
I suppose I should clarify a few things. First of all, don't worry about the implementation. I've already coded all of these fixes, and in fact, they're all included in BioMod. If you want to see if you prefer TNM's way of handling unconscious NPCs to mine, or how the computer fix changes the gamepl...

This project is sort of on hold until Yuki returns, but if I don't post these now I'm probably going to forget about them. Plus we can still discuss their appropriateness. -Missing "Armor ricochet" sound when shooting armored targets like bots, cameras, turrets etc. -The player can trigger the reloa...

Reskinning a weapon
Let's say I want to make a new type of grenade using a custom texture on the gas grenade model. What's the best way to go about this? As far as I know, there are two ways to do it, and neither of them are working for me: 1. Using Skin and MultiSkins. This at least gets the grenade into the game with...

Re: Narrative choices in games
When I first learned that you could save Paul, it blew me away. I couldn't believe that the world was actually alive enough to let you change something that, at the time, seemed like such a pivotal moment in the game. Unfortunately, as I grow older and play more games, that kind of thing is becoming...

Re: Script/Code help
Here's a sort of silly one: What's the escape sequence for double quotes in strings? I mean, surely one exists, right? But it isn't \" like any sane language would use, or |" like the use of |n in the existing strings would suggest, so I'm at a loss. Does anybody know?

Re: Deus Ex v2.0 - An unofficial fan patch for Deus Ex (HELP
If you think those are the only games that draw a distinction between death and unconsciousness, I say that you need to broaden your gaming horizons. Thief is the best example, because not only did it handle unconsciousness much better, but it was made two years ago by many of the same people! Not t...

On a related note, if you render somebody unconscious and then gib them, the requisite flags aren't set, so the game acts as if they're still alive.
You know, when you put it all together like that, the way this game handles death and unconsciousness is terrible.
