Re: How has everyone been for the past decade or so?

It's great to hear from you, Grammatolatry.

I won't call you "Howard", but I remember.

Re: How has everyone been for the past decade or so?

I accidentally hit "quote" instead of "edit", which caused this comment to be an all-in-quotation copy of the previous. I don't think I can delete it (I don't see an option to delete) so it's now just this explanation of why this is a thing that serves no purpose.

Re: How has everyone been for the past decade or so?

Chris, you used to have a website up, where you shared an interesting theory about holograms at the Area 51 facility. Is that site still up, and do you still support that theory? It wasn't my site. I contributed, but walton simons (lowercase) set it up and maintained it and deserves the credit. Thi...

Re: How has everyone been for the past decade or so?

I return here occasionally because it was always a supportive community and hey, it's a forum that's still online so it's like my daily dose of nostalgia. It was a great and supportive community. For a long time it was my only source of human contact outside of the university I was at and I couldn'...

Re: How has everyone been for the past decade or so?

*looks at Jonas' sig* I haven't had a chance to play it because of computer problems, but I own Clandestine . I didn't realize it was yours. I've always been interested in the idea of a game where you play Alex Jacobson instead of JC Denton. It's part of a larger interest in getting to be someone ot...

Re: How has everyone been for the past decade or so?

I wonder this whenever it comes up: What exactly does it mean to get two degrees in an American context? Because like, getting two degrees here would take 10 years :P In this case it means two Bachelor's in different areas. it's not particularly useful , since pretty much anyone that cares about wh...

How has everyone been for the past decade or so?

(Dropped this in the wrong forum originally. Sorry.) Hi, everyone. So I have a tendency to fall off the face of the earth when my depression gets really bad and then utterly fail to reconnect with people and places when I recover. That's when I disappeared whenever I disappeared. I'm not sure when I...

Re: The Happy Birthday Thread

Many Happy Returns CTC, where ever you are. Jonas is right. Maine. Been really low on energy all year, my online activity has been mostly restricted to following a couple of blogs where people take apart bad professional fiction (Left Behind and Twilight) piece by piece. Tends to inspire me to writ...

Re: Looking for general impressions on HR's Setting/Endings

Well, he's intangible because (all the reasons I can think of for intangibility...) - He's a hologram This is my preferred explanation. If we're going to choose to go in the direction of rampant speculation, this is the road I choose. What I've said before goes something like this: Say JC showed up...

Re: Looking for general impressions on HR's Setting/Endings

That's kindof troubling. It's a massive headache if you stop to think about it too much. Do you think it's possible that the clone tank area and pages comments when you reach it are part of an elaborate setup to freak JC the hell out? That's certainly possible. Page is trying to kill JC when he say...

Re: Deus Ex 3 - I'll just leave this here

Ok, I've spent way too much time looking around the internet to see various people's takes on this. I don't think EM is racist, I'm unclear on whether or not they have done something which is racist, but if you look around some of the sites talking about this, it seems pretty clear that the debate h...

Re: Would you have bought DX:HR if it wasn't Deus Ex?

I think I'd have been more likely to buy it in that case. A game set in a future with conspiracies and augmentations that tries to give Deus Ex style gameplay yet has none of the cognitive dissonance that results from trying to square what I know of this game with what I know of Deus Ex? It sounds g...

Re: Looking for general impressions on HR's Setting/Endings

I went back and read through the entirety of the topic, which I hadn't done before. Then I made another long ass reply. You're welcome. :D Thank you. First...Chris, do we know what Alex Denton is doing inside his tank in Deus Ex, beneath Area 51? Supposing it _is_ in fact alex inthere. And do we kn...

Re: Deus Ex 3 - I'll just leave this here

That was extremely interesting. On a personal level, as soon as I found that character I did stop and think "holy shit, is this okay?" But I fairly quickly decided that it was okay, as her mannerisms weren't just used to paint her as a black person, but specifically as a poor black person I think a...
