Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

The GEP issue would be a problem. Can it's scope be a seperate attachment/mod all together that can only be applied to the GEP. Once applied, it remains on it permanently (Because who carries two GEP guns, or another weapon that can guide missiles). Other scopes can't be attached to it. We were thi...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Glad you agree the plasma should be unscoped by default. But I think the GEP should too so you don't have access to guided rockets off the bat on lib island (unless you cough up for Kaplan's scope, of course, which you can't afford without first going over the island and getting some credits) and t...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Edit 2: I thought we were going with this: Pistol: accepts scope and sights mods. Minicrossbow: sights mods only? accepts scope and sights mods. Stealth pistol: accepts scope and sights mods. Both shotguns: accepts sights mods only (isn't a scope on a shotgun impractical too?). Assault Gun: accepts...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Dude, you're blowing up a little again over minor difference of opinion. I thought we've made a lot of progress. We have, and I hope we continue to do so. But sometimes, it's tedious when there is two options, we both oppose it, and the only thing that needs to be made is a choice and no one is mak...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Problem with scope concept 1 is again it goes against Deus Ex's choice permanence principle, is open to abuse (take scope off, stick it on GEP gun, do some IW style rocket guidance then put it back on original gun), and is not really any more realistic than scope concept 2 as we're not going with g...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Of course the player is playing intelligently if he's using obvious loopholes or intended design for his favor. The point is to design the mod so that it'll be balanced and won't make everything too easy. Ammo scarcity to not allow for absent-minded run-and-gun gameplay is a part of that in Deus Ex...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Let's say you're proficient in pistols, and have run out of ammo. Normally, this would force you to sneak around or scavenge for ammo - essentially, fall back to a secondary gameplay style to further support your main play style. The secondary gameplay style should always be inferior to the main, b...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

I agree with CP, the first concept is against choice permanence and is open to abuse. Once you have 2 different scope mods you've essentially peaked in terms of scopes for all guns, which breaks balance and tramples over upgrade paths. Explain to me how this will be abused? Also upgrade paths? We a...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

I was thinking a couple days back we should go for one of two methods: 1. Detaching a scope places the scope mod back in your inventory, leaving you free to attach it to even another gun if you want. If your inventory is full you cannot detach until you make space. 2. Once a scope mod is attached t...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Sorry for bringing up the scopes again after it went quiet for a few days, but it just now sunk in that toggleable scopes + grid based inventory system was already implemented in another game - Resident Evil 4. The scope/optics always stays in your inventory taking up space, but it can be coupled w...

Re: Level systems: Automated vs. Gated

Not picking sides at all, but any reference to a safe space is just worthy of cringe. You dim or what? Safe space, It has a literal meaning and doesn't have to be a cultural reference. Here is where I am safe from being harassed by the guy, and it's a relief. Not dim at all thankfully. You couldn't...

I've always thought the same, the suppressor connected to the muzzle break is also rather ridiculous too.

Re: Level systems: Automated vs. Gated

OTP is pretty much my safe space from your more obsessive-malicious side now. You actually give me some space to breathe here. Oh sorry, and another site you know I'm active on but know illegal behavior will not be tolerated. Not picking sides at all, but any reference to a safe space is just worth...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Shotguns are often scoped when you want to use buckshot or slugs. Buckshot is fewer larger balls and fires with a much narrower cone than that of birdshot where scopes would be useless. Slugs are single large projectile that pack alot of punch. The sniper rifles scope should be fixed and not be able...

Re: Mortecha's Weapon Mod Discussion

Nah. Determine the most suitable/viable/valuable concept and stick with it. If going with concept 1 I think it's acceptable to have detachable sights, but not detachable lasers etc. Players may expect otherwise at first but it'd be something most accept without it causing any major issues for their...
