Re: So, about the UDK

Woah! This thread unexpectedly came to life! I go overseas for, well, quite a while and come back: Bam! I actually found a thread posted here from about a year ago, discussing these same issues. They concluded pretty much the same thing: Map structure yes, models no. I followed on with my research a...

TNM Transcript

I couldn't find any other threads on this subject, but I pray to the almighty Llama that I didn't miss it. Anyway, I was wondering whether there was a plain text transcript of the mod somewhere? The only real reason I wanted it was to look up the comment one of the characters (I forget the name - so...

Re: Original DX coming to PS3?

Yep... and pretty much the only reason to get PS3. <_< Its fine to be a Deus Ex fan, but that doesn't mean you have to completely ignore every other game release for the last decade. There's a lot of good stuff on the PS2, not in the least because its the PS2 version of Deus Ex they're competing wi...

So, about the UDK

I've had the idea of playing around with the UDK for a whole now, and it recently struck me that it might be a fertile ground to try some Deus Ex remaking (like Deus Ex: Reborn). I've seen some evidence of people attempting similar projects before, and I'm sure it won't take long fore to discover my...

Re: Idea

DDL actually posted an update a few weeks ago. So if you'd actually looked a teeny tiny bit harder, you'd have found all of the "relevant posts" you wanted.

Re: Alpha Protocol

Worse than Peragus? I really didn't mind Peragus. I mean, it was buggy as hell (yay mods!) and a blatant System Shock 2 try-hard, but it wasn't that bad. While it felt a little out of place in an otherwise largely non-linear game (i.e. you couldn't choose to go to Peragus), I found it enjoyable. Es...

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution does not have enough votes!

Oh! I just remembered the game I thought did the whole "introducing your character" thing the best; Fallout 3. Granted, the initial scenes weren't the most riveting, and the fact that you could undo them all when you were about to leave the Vault was a little dodgy, but it worked dammit! And the way...

Re: What are you playing?

I beat Portal on my Mac to give it a whirl; was excellent. I'm now playing through Torchlight, which is so far living up to expectation (if a little light on plot). I mean, the plot is enough to link the various levels together, but it just feels like there's not enough emphasis on making it that co...

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution does not have enough votes!

Yep, now contrast and compare to eg. The Witcher, which starts with the main character getting amnesia so he has to be re-introduced to his entire life, going around asking everyone things he used to know, such that the player will also know them. The way I remember it, which may be inaccurate if J...

Re: Alpha Protocol

I'm really glad that it was delayed. I'm much rather have a delayed game than a rushed game. I still have nightmares about KotOR II. Kotor 2, despite being rushed, is still much better than the original. But it could have been PERFECT. As opposed to 90% of the game being excellent, with the last 10...

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution does not have enough votes!

The nice twist with KOTOR's amnesia is that it's not used in the beginning of the game as an excuse for why you don't know anything about your avatar's life, like it is in most games. Wait, were you being sarcastic? Because I seem to remember your character being introduced properly, but just as co...

Eh? Me? What did I do? KotOR is a good game. Albeit the whole use of "amnesia" as a plot device; though it does pull it off well despite it being more cliched than Luke's paternal lineage.

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution does not have enough votes!

I got the StarWars Knights of the Old Republic, realized it was an RPG, and shelved it. Turned out to be a mistake. Interviewing at Bioware, I had to admit I hadn't played their latest game, and called it Jedi of the Old Republic ("No, Knights" "Wait, KotOR, K, right, knight"). I did the same thing...

Re: I'm all excited for New Vegas... giggle...

I think that perhaps I was somewhat premature in my assessment of SWTOR as "awful" simply because its seen by a lot of KotOR purists as a betrayal of the format that made the first two games so enjoyable. I wasn't saying that the game in and of itself may not be terrible, I was just part of a large ...
