as far as I've read - he was unarmed, and the gun "recovered" at the scene is reported to not have been fired. Further more the bullet that hit the police officer was also reported to be a police issued round.

Re: Great Steam Sales
This brings me back to the pie - they may be theoretically paying more, but they've got more then half the fucking pie already. You can't tell me that someone as rich as say Oprah should have the amount of money she has while the world is falling further into a state of economic disrepair. It is thi...

Re: Great Steam Sales
Feeling shafted by a Publisher is not just unique to the Games industry either - as far as marketing goes it is almost as bad as organized crime. DDL said - the market follows the money - well I think it is more a proposition of the market controls the money. If anybody here knows about Payola in th...

Re: Great Steam Sales
You're completely missing the point. The question is why hasn't the prevalence of middleware reduced the amount of work needed to make a game. The answer I've been attempting to give is that middleware hasn't really removed any work from game development, it hasn't really made any of the stuff that...

Re: Great Steam Sales
I read everything you wrote... but it still just doesn't add up to me. I mean whats the actual cost of the middleware license compared to the development of the same features? Shouldn't the middleware cost less and thus lower the production cost somewhat. Having made games 10 years ago and also 6 mo...

Re: Great Steam Sales
there should be some savings - not 100%, but there must be some sort of money saving that comes out of the time saving. Obviously they aren't spending money on 20 programmers to do the physics and though there is the cost of the middleware itself - the price should be significantly reduced in compar...

Re: Great Steam Sales
I can't comment with any sense of authority on this matter as I really don't know - but from an outsiders position looking in, it comes off outrageous that most games (especially cash in games like the EASports series) cost as much as they do. Like was said about middleware - it's there to make thin...

Re: Jail-Broken iPhones/iPods - anybody here have one?
I waited until after my year warranty was out to jailbreak. But yeah I don't think I'd ever go back unless Apple did open up the device to third-party software - I mean like JustAnotherFan said, Mac and PCs are already "jail-broken" in a sense, a lot of other smart-phones too. Apple should just make...

it still managed to sell over 700,000 copies since its release - Deus Ex reached 1 million in 2009. It surprises me that 700k is considered selling like shit. http://www.destructoid.com/alpha-protocol-manages-sell-700k-in-spite-of-itself-180305.phtml http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_Ex It's shit b...

yeah I can understand that - but for a non-developer (like me), it is worth it to have access to apps & tweaks that aren't available in the app store

Re: Jail-Broken iPhones/iPods - anybody here have one?
I tried it, and it was fun. It actually helped fix problems to have a terminal on the iPhone. Then came Apple's updates, that meant I couldn't plug anything into iTunes until the phone was re-jailed, which iTunes would block because it couldn't get authorization to update it. I forget how I managed...

Jail-Broken iPhones/iPods - anybody here have one?
I have been jail-broken since last christmas with my iPod Touch and I don't think I could ever go back - the jail broken apps are just to good. My jailbreak apps are: Snes9X - best SNES emulator ever, I've managed to beat Super Mario 4 + All Stars, Zelda Link to the Past, Soul Blazer, Chrono Trigger...
