Re: Nuclear launch detected

I played SC for it's story and would probably only get SC2 for the story (not a fan of multiplayer - RTS is a genre where it takes you 25 minutes to die per round, unlike the quicker turnover of FPS's). I've always been surprised that more RTS's haven't tried incorporating story more thoroughly myse...

Re: Movie Thread

Jonas and I saw Inception when I visited him up in Montreal. It's a pretty fun movie, I think you'd enjoy it, if only for the visuals and decent acting. And while there might be holes in the logic, the plot is at least grist for future forum posts.

Re: I can't play Deus Ex any more

Slightly related, but I seem to recall an email on Carter's computer during the Escape UNATCO mission that indicated that he helped JC escape from the MJ12 facility, or something like that?

Re: Emulating PS2 Deus Ex - The Conspiracy

Thanks for doing this runthrough, it was really interesting to watch. I'll probably never play the PS2 version so it was really interesting to see how different it is. It's almost like the remapped the entire game.

Re: Narrative choices in games

There is a HL1 mod called Sweet Half Life which doesn't have a narrative choice as much as a TNM style fork which branches the game into two different directions about 50% of the way in. It's also made by Koumei Satou (of Mistake of Pythagorus and Pieces Like Us) fame, so it has a nicely quirky styl...

Re: Narrative choices in games

Got Jonas's permission to sorta hijack the thread :-P. Reading Jonas's post got me thinking about choice and immersion, in particular whether or not choice/consequence gameplay really has all that much effect on immersion at all... In Bioware games (and what I played of Witcher) you have no real int...

Re: DX3 Trailer of the Trailer

Hah, I had the same thought when I read that ("what Renaissance did they learn about in school?") but I guess as long as they stick to artistic impressions of the period it'll hopefully turn out okay :P.
