I think it's meant to be sort of a Louisiana thing.

Re: Voice Acting - Discuss Here
One of things you have to understand is that, even if it had been accomplished 100% true to life, that accent is weird. (Cool too.)
The British kicked the French Arcadians out of Acadia (part of eastern Canada) during and after the war. They fled to the French territory of Louisiana, only to discover that the French were planning on selling it to Spain. The sale passed and for a time it was Spanish, then control went back to the French then to the Americans which is how it remains to this day.
The accent comes from southern Louisiana, and is called Cajun, which is somehow a throwback to Acadian (I don't know how, the words look quite different.) As you might imagine is is primarily a combination of a 1750s/1760s eastern Canadian French accent and a southern American accent, but it comes from the area around New Orleans, it's got to be more confused than that.

Aren't some of the aspects of indigenous languages thrown into the mix? Or is that Creole?

It wouldn't surprise me if there were. My point in bringing up New Orleans is that at a port that important you'd expect a mix of (non-indigenous) languages and accents which could have influenced the Cajun accent.bobby 55 wrote:Aren't some of the aspects of indigenous languages thrown into the mix? Wikipedia, which has only the tiniest of articles on the accent, says that Creole had an influence on Cajun.

Cheers Chris. Just an abstract thought but thanks for your trouble. There have been some interesting movies set in and around those neck of the woods and perhaps it's all getting mixed together in my head. No surprise there. lol.

You should have had an option to ask Ricemanu to quote Gunther regardless (maybe getting him pissed and hostile )...Grammatolatry wrote:Heheheheh...it's the funniest thing since Gunther's.

I totally voice acted in this, but all my characters are at the end of the game I think. Are there cheat codes or something to get me to the parts I'm in? I know I could just play the game, but I'm short on time, and I really just want to capture some video of those parts for the youtubes. Thanks!

Do you know how to use cheats in Deus Ex?
The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.
Re: Voice Acting - Discuss Here
You could type "legend" without the quotes in the console. From there you can load the later maps without having to play all the way through.cornettheory wrote:I totally voice acted in this, but all my characters are at the end of the game I think. What he said
Course I forgot ..
You don't need to 'activate' Cheats in TNM.

Re: Voice Acting - Discuss Here
Use the "legend" cheat and load the map you are interested in.
If you have any idea what characters you voiced we could even point you in the right direction.
Cheats are activated by default.
