Great work on mod, but...how?

Post by Solomon Zwei »

Greetings, TNM team.
Firstly, i want to thank you for the greatest conversion ever. I've played a lots of different mods to different games, but obviously, this one is taking a first place.
The second thing is...how? Maybe I should have posted it in DXEditing forum, but it seems a little dead for now. So...what tools you've been using exactly to create all this awesomeness? I can't seem to find decent SDK with a good set of tutorials. Most of the modding sites died out, unfortunately.
I'd really appreciate if you support me with links to needed tools.

Thanks :)

Take a look here to get started:

You may know Steve Tack from his fantastic mod ZODIAC. He wrote all these tutorials to help himself figure out the SDK, and we've all benefitted tremendously from that.

You can get the SDK here:

There's also a version of UnrealEd 2 hacked to work for Deus Ex, but I'm not sure where that thing is found now adays. It should be a bit more stable, and it has a lot of UI improvements over UnrealEd 1.5, but back when we used it, it was a little hacky, and there some things we still had to do in 1.5.

Good luck :)

Hey Jonas,
thank you, it'll be a great help.
I'd suggest to make those links sticky at the DXEditing. Tack's and UC's tutorial links at DX Revision lead nowhere. Too bad that DX modding community is dying nowadays.

It's not dying, it's just extremely small, and it's been this way for a long time. That's to be expected given the age of the game :)

The links sort of broke when we upgraded our site, content is still there though:

Hahah nice, so we're both rehosting Tack's stuff independently of each other. That's good, less risk of losing it all :)

Indeed, our plans were to host more tutorials, but we sort of got a bit sidetracked ^^
