For example is planethalflife forum city a linear shooter?

Everybody carries an (For lack of a better metaphor) ungodly massive arsenal and is as tough as a tank with a full HEV Suit charge, carries a linear amount of health, crowbar points are currency (Like a credit, but a crowbar...), and of course there are deadly Aliens everywhere trying to kill you, and the Marines are there too, then the Combine show up every other day...deuxhero wrote:For example is planethalflife forum city a linear shooter?

I would assume it's an Eastern European city surrounded by huge underground research complexes where a mottley resistance force is engaged in constant skirmishes with oppressive alien overlords?

I was asking more of how the forum city would play, seeing as PlanetDeusEx plays like Deus Ex.

Well since Half-Life is mostly about running and shooting, I would expect PHL would be one big team deathmatch.

A forum city tour would make an awesome TNM mod within a mod. PlanetDiablo would resemble the DXI caverns a lot and tons of weak enemies to kill, PlanetHalflife would use the Paris textures a lot (closest to Eastern Euro we've got ), and PlanetQuake would be all techno textured except with all the lights dark brown hue to tint them and you can find a railgun (using the PHAT rifle model) and a custom GEP that only does 70 damage but sends you flying if you're caught in the blast radius.

The problem is that fundamentally, you'd have to use the appropriate game to create a Forum City. You can't create PlanetDiablo as a Deus Ex mod, it has to be a Diablo mod.

We'd be a PDX native visiting the other cities so of course we'd interpret their strange, alien ways through our natural gameplay expectations.

I imagine PlanetDoom would be a place with a VERY low electricity bill, and everywhere you walk walls would open behind you and Imps would throw fireballs at your face. Shotgun shells are currency.
