Something Awful recently forced a ridiculous password change for every active member of the site. 12 characters, upper and lower cases, and at least one number and symbol.
Of course, this is something pretty much impossible to remember, so I have mine in a text in my documents (not to mention in the SA cookie :P), and I'd imagine most other members do as well. My Paypal account isn't NEARLY as long or complicated, but it's infinitely more secure, since it exists only in my memory. *sigh*

Get a better memory. All my passwords are 10-12 characters with upper and lower case and both symbols and numbers. Admittedly the letters generally spell out an actual word, but for my bank account, I use a very long acronym so it's even harder to crack. 8 seemingly random letters, 4 numbers, and 2 symbols, and it's written down nowhere. Good luck cracking that!

In other words: Come up with a password you can actually memorize.

I use a system like:
Oh My God ! The Internet Is Going 2 Kill My PC !? No No Not This 1 ! = OMG!TIIG2KMPC!?NNNT1!

It's quite easy to memorize if you pick a catchy sentence. Just make sure to include some special characters and letters. Edit: Using Upper and lower case makes sense as well... just too lazy to change my post for it. ;)

Hahah exactly.

I find that refrains from certain songs work well.

Do they come in jars?

My memory sucks so I use a bunch of permutations of like two numbers and three or so phrases which probably isn't incredibly secure but it works out for me.

I could maybe, possibly remember it if I tried- the thing is, it's just a forum, and the past SA forum breakins have ALL been from someone hacking the forums themselves, rather than just going to individual people's accounts and brute-forcing passwords.
If this was my paypal account, or my bank account, or something like that I'd care. :P

That's just a skin though, innit? Would be cool with a mod that switched out names of corporations and such as well - let you play Alex Jacobson hacking into Versalife ;)

Yeah, nice idea. Maybe I do that in the future. It's not that hard with Uplink.
