Alpha 1.8.0 Deadline

The milestone for the release of Alpha 1.8.0 is officially set at the end of thise month.

That basically means that we'll be fixing all the critical and severe bugs that were found on the test runs, and as many of the other bugs as we can kill in that amount of time.

I'd also really, really like to include all the music (except for the cinematic stuff, of course), so hopefully that can happen.

Ideally, this release will be playable without having any insane randomness occur, leaving us with mostly balancing and such to do. And of course the cinematics :)

Err, I doubt it. Gelo and I are just focusing on getting it all recorded, cleaning it up and sorting it out is a whole other deal. We can probably do that for Alpha 1.8.5, though.

For general info, here's what I can think of off-hand that we need to get done for A180 apart from fixing as many bugs as usual including ALL critical and preferably all severe bugs:
  • Finishing the blocker building in Downtown and (sigh) adding it to the datavault map of that sector (Chris). (DONE)
  • Creating and adding the rocket launcher schematics you get from Dr. Dumb Lunatic (Breadfan). (DONE)
  • Getting Ricemanu to respond when you send the signal in ABI (in the WC storyline) (Nick). (DONE)
  • Creating and implementing the space station schematics (datavault maps of the mission's four levels) (Phas).
  • Completing 24_SpaceStation04 (Chris). (DONE).
  • Implementing the Ryan endings (Jonas). (DONE).
  • Writing the dialogue for the band in the Partyzone (Gelo). (DONE)
  • Adding a bunch of fan fiction books to the fan fic store and various other maps (Jonas).
  • Placing the last 6 easter eggs (FCDowntown, PDXHQ02, LlamaTemple, FCCorporateSewers, DXEditing, SpaceStation01) (Jonas/Larry). (DONE)

As far as I know it's basically finished. Jonas has implemented a bunch of story change suggestions from Gelo but I think we wanted to wait on the testers to finish a WC run through before we compile this one.

Actually I just had a look at the list I posted above, and I've now updated it to show what's done. As you can clearly see, there's still a bit to go.

Still a few pesky things, but almost all the important bugs fixing is done, and none of the things left is actually overly difficult or time consuming.

Phas is fine, Ricemanu....well, we can always put placeholders or grab a HDTP artist for the rocket launcher schematics.

I just updated the to-do list for A180. Seems we only need one thing to push out the next build: The Space Station schematics from Phasmatis. I think strictly we can release the next build without them, but they'd be really nice for our testers to have.

I'd like to do one more thing before we release it though, which is to finish the side mission in 23_ABIInterior (GatherInfo, I believe it's called). I'll definitely need Nick's help for that, and it appears I'm going to another party tonight (fucking Halloween). Maybe I'll have time for it tomorrow.
