The outrageously exclusive cutscene thread!

I've made this into an announcement so it stays on top for a while.

Trestkon! We need to get those cutscenes together. I'm declaring our intro script ready for production (making draft 7 our FINAL DRAFT) and the following is a list of "locations" we need to gather in the map file:

FORUM CITY - Alley
PHASMATIS’ APARTMENT - Bedroom
DOWNTOWN – Checkpoint
DOWNTOWN – Llama Temple
DOWNTOWN – Before Phas' apartment building
CORPORATE – King Kashue’s office
CORPORATE – WorldCorp HQ
CORPORATE – Old PDX HQ
WORLDCORP – Electronics Lab
WORLDCORP – Scara’s Office

Alrighty, I've cut together most of the maps. Just a couple more to go. I've lined them up on a diagonal so that when you view them in a front or side view you won't have one set overlapping another set.

They can probably use a bit more trimming to cut down on excess geometry and such, but I didn't want to do too much until we know the exact camera placements.

I am pleased with your activity! For the Alley, I'm thinking we can use Phas' old Residence Sector map. Did you include the lookout over Downtown in the Bedroom set? :)

Yes. That set also contains the LLama Temple and a checkpoint.

Pwnage. I'm not sure we can use the same set for the llama temple and the bedroom, though. We shouldn't really show all those about-to-fight pawns standing still outside the temple when the camera looks out Phas' window :P

We'll just use a trigger to make them appear. Much more efficient than duplicated that entire section of the map.

I just read over the cutscene pdf. Do you think you're perhaps biasing the player towards joining pdx instead of wc? I read that as basically scara plans to kill you at some point. My understanding is that this is not in fact the case but even if it is we don't want to explicitly tell the player that.

Also I notice that trestkon is hardly mentioned. I wonder if that could be confusing.

Hey Shane, thanks for your feedback.

I don't think I'm biasing people against joining WorldCorp - I'm simply giving them a taste of what working for Scara will be like (you're basically a tool to him). But even if I am, I wouldn't mind if they joined PDX on their first playthrough and then play it a second time for WC. In fact that would be optimal, the WorldCorp storyline has several unique locations that you don't visit for PDX, and I feel it serves best as your second playthrough storyline :)

I am, however, a little distraught that you interpret Scara's line as him planning to kill Trestkon down the road. This is indeed not the case. Does anybody else get that vibe? Any suggestions as to what could be done about it?

As for Trestkon, previous versions of the script described quite extensively why he's being called in, but this was largely edited out because it was too wordy and too explicit. Remember that the DX intro doesn't even mention JC at all except as the "secondary unit", which you won't realize the first time you play it, so I don't think that's a problem. I think enough is done to explain the current situation and Trestkon's role in it in Phasmatis' briefing at the start of the game. Considering we don't even have an in media res action start to our game like DX did, we don't really have to explain everything in our intro. In fact we don't have to explain anything in our intro, but we choose to do so anyway :)

I think it's quite nifty, personally. I sensed no PDX bias.

Looked fine to me, though I may be a little biased :-P.

Why? Is there something between you and Jonas the rest of us don't know about?

Or is it just me being kept in the dark here?

You raise a good point re the deus ex intro. I'm convinced.

I say it sounds like scara plans to kill trestkon because he makes a comment along the lines of 'don't kill him, yet' where the yet implies that he will do in future. Thats paraphrased from my recollection of course.

Jonas, I added in the rat, Llama and Goat. The goat and llama run to meet each other, but the rat doesn't seem to want to move. I imagine we should tone down the lighting on the goat end of the alley as he's not supposed to be seen straight away.
