They actually used a human voice for WOPR (the guy who played Dr. Falken), they just chopped up the words in the sentences and then randomly arranged them for him to speak in a monotone. Then they strung them together in the right order and added a filter to get the final WOPR voice.

Goo idea, but let's not do that :p I don't have the zillion hours it would take :p

The orriginal Half-life did that too. Check the VOX directory. It was particularly usefull for modders to have it say exactly what they want. There were some weird ones in there too IIRC, to add a bit of humour.

Lines for the phone's to play when frobbed:

"The Forumplanet VoIP network will be implemented in the next updates coming late 1999."
"The number you have dialed does not exist."

Need more, feel free to contribute. Funny is best.

And for the record, the first one is Nick's.

Didn't we have a whole lot more than that?

Yeah but these are different, they're more general so we can use them across all phones like in DX.

We should probably have some extra special ones that play if you continually frob the phone, similar to the Radish 3000 computer. The 'fingers are too fat' one could be a good one for that :p

Notes for Kylie:

Needs proper character name pronunciation:

"Yes, as far as we know, he has a secret apartment somewhere near the PDX HQ. It can be reached through an entrance in his office. We haven't ever actually had an agent inside there, breaking into the place is suicide: If you're caught by King Kashue or Phasmatis, you're as good as dead."

Needs recording:

"You did that just to send me a message, didn't you, you arrogant prick? Just to show me that you could take Zero out without killing him... don't think that's going to save your ass in the end."

"You're not such a saint after all, Trestkon. You see how it is now, don't you? How little your precious morals are worth when you're under enough pressure. Zero will be avenged, you god damn hypocrite. Be sure of that."

Note to self: Remember to ask Mike to insert the clicks for the Kylie answering machine messages.

When you tell Mike about the clicks, also make sure he knows it's a recorded telephone message so he can make it sound right.

I really gotta write more comments like that for all the voice actors on our next project.

I assume we'll keep using voice acting, given how much experience this project will give us with that :P
