.exe Launcher

Post by Trestkon »

Jonas and I were talking about the eventual /CD/ release and got around to discussing a possible .exe launcher for TNM. We think it would have several features that would be useful.

-Autolaunch on the /CD/ version of TNM
-It could solve the problem Shane is having with editing .ini files to change the rain intensity. This value could be adjusted by the launcher program
-It would look awesome and professional
-It could have an autoupdate function
-And of course it would have all the standard stuff, like a button for our webpage, uninstall, manual, etc.

What think you?

Couldn't hurt, maybe make two files to put online (and only the exe on the CD)?

The .exe would also come with the download version. Mostly because it would also be the thing used to adjust rain intensity.

So people would just click TNM.exe and a stylish window would pop up with:

PLAY
UPDATE
SETTINGS
VISIT WEBSITE
UNINSTALL

etc.

Does anyone have the time and knowledge to write such an application?

anyone with a grasp of pretty much any decent win32 programming language should be able to do it. I just can't help wondering if the resources could be better allocated elsewhere. Then again I guess it would be written pretty much last while we were testing/voice acting so it wouldn't really matter,
