I hate myself and want to die

Post by Jonas »

Lost another harddisk today. Or rather, yesterday, when my otherwise quite computer-savvy mother apparently turned off the power without shutting down Windows. Damned if I know how that could possibly kill my disk, but the fact remains I now have no harddisk for my computer.

It was my only internal disk, so it had everything on it. I did a backup of my most important files to my new external disk last weekend, but I skipped it this weekend because I was too busy working on TNM when it prompted me. Most of my stuff has been backed up to the FTP, but I reckon I lost some textures, various text files, maybe some convo work... anyway, the biggest setback will be that it'll probably put me out of commission for a week while I reinstall everything on a new disk.

It was Samsung. The previous drive I lost was a Seagate, but that was because of my cheap-ass PSU.

Here's an interesting idea: at the end of the TNM players manual, include inane statistics related to the number of broken computer components during the development of the mod :P

Yeah Chris lost two at once and Pointman lost one around the same time I lost the first one. And the PSU surge that killed my first harddisk also messed up my graphics card. I think we could produce quite a long list if we put our minds to it :P

Do upgrades count too? I think I've upgraded at least twice. :D

Hahah Chris, you can't count formats. I format every time I do a major hardware upgrade, add my lost harddisks and I've had at least as many disk whipes as you ;)

Difference is I actually back up my files before I format.

I lost a hard drive shortly after I agreed to do some stuff for Jonas.

Conversely, HDTP has induced no problems whatsoever.

I think Jonas is cursed.
