The D3D 10 renderer supports height/normal maps.
I decided to try and make a few simple height makes to see how it looked (normal maps are beyond my skill set).
I'm no texture artist, so my stuff doesn't look great, but I haven't seen anyone post about this, so it seemed worth bringing up.

That functionality was basically added for us to use, though I can't take credit for the very good implementation . I am planning to spend a few days once I've finished the Diffuse textures to go through and add properly generated normal maps to some of the more major textures. Then that can be released alongside New Vision as an optional extra.

Awesome. Normal maps are a piece of piss to make in most cases, but they improve the look of the lighting substantially.
