I'm in the section with the two storage rooms. Came out of the first one and through the room with the hoverbots and into the room with the two spiderbots and the second storage room. Got a feeling I am meant to go upwards as I can see stairs but how...?

You're looking up at the Server 6 door from below, right? You've been through the gas room and into both storage rooms. The second storage room contains a Level 4 key to that Server 6 door. Okay, from where you are, exit back through the first storage room and gas room up to the room with the huge cyan lighting. Round to the left and keep going - although the hallway is dark, you'll run into two huge doors on twin sides of the end of the short tunnel. Through them, you'll find the Server 6 door (as well as a bounty of explosives for dealing with the spiderbots below, provided you had come the top way first).

Or you can try jumping up there with speed aug, and/or grenade climbing.

Awww. I thought of that, too. BUT BUT ~ my way is more fun for the backtracking (read: fgsfds). =(
