I did a quick search for this, assuming such a problem would be rather obvious, I'll assume it hasn't happened to anyone else yet.
It's quite simple (puzzling too): I start the game, see the cool intro but can't bring the menu up no matter what I press. I know the game is responding to the keyboard because I can use say and teamsay to write stuff. I'm using Windows 7 in case that matters. (obviously, ESC works just fine in regular Deus Ex)

Hi, welcome to the forums. That could be a corrupt file. Have you tried re-installing?
