Basically, I have subtracted a large room with an additive wall in the middle separating it into two rooms. If I select the floor's surface, it will select both room's floor's, and I assume there is some way to use the wall, in the middle, to "clip" the rooms in half, but I don't know how to do it. I could work around it, but I think knowing how to do this could come in handy later.

Nope, you can't clip surfaces in Unreal 1.5.

As a workaround you can just make two very thin floor pieces and place them on top of the floor.

Do you know if the "sheet" 2d brush ever overrides a brush's surfaces when it is placed over it, or do only 3d objects do that? It seems like you're suggesting it's the latter.

I'm not sure your question is making any sense. What do you mean by "overrides"? Also, what do you mean by "over it"? And finally, what do you mean by "3d objects"?

Ok so, I have a large subtracted brush, and I want to place the texture of a street along a strip of this brush's surface. I create a flat 2d "sheet" brush, "adding" it such that it is actually intersecting with the floor of this brush (iow, it isn't a grid unit above the floor). Yet when I add it, the texture does not show, nor can I select it, as though it is "under" the original surface. This is whether or not it is ordered first or last. However, I do not have this problem with adding a thin, 3 dimensional, rectangle, with its top surface intersecting the floor of the original surface. It does show, and it can be selected to create the street. Is this always true of these sheet brushes?

Yes. You'll want to place them 1 unit above the brush as you described.
