Getting GOTY to run without CD

I have tried this many times without success, but how do I get GOTY to run without a CD? I put either

CdPath=
CdPath=D:
CdPath=C:\DeusEx

Or remove it all together and non of those three work. Could it be the .exe being a GOTY version? or is it to do with the older files used in 1.112fm GOTY?

What GOTY release are you using?

Try setting CdPath= in both Default.ini and DeusEx.ini

I have the GotY and I just removed the drive letter so it was like this:

CdPath=

And it runs fine without the disc. Did the same thing for TNM. Don't know why it wouldn't for you :-k
Probably obvious but are you sure it's the right .ini file?
One other possibility, you didn't simply add that line in did you? You need to edit the line that's already in the DeusEx.ini file.

Same for me... no need to run the disk for DX or TNM after that line was modified.

Did that, doesn't work. I have Sold Out version of GOTY 1.112fm

Yes it was the right ini, deusex.ini and default.ini Previously there was no CdPath= line, had to add it to see if that would solve the problem, it didn't (required CD before the line was present)

What?!! It's that simple? I have the same disc, I'm about to try that. You just delete the drive for it to look in?

-edit- yeah that totally just worked for me, which is good because my cd drive is starting to fall apart on my laptop.

Sold Out? I think there was a problem with that one.. get an online crack, should be an executable file (EXE).. as in DeusEx.exe

I have the sold out version also and never had a problem with deleting the cd. You did the full install right?

You could try replacing the exe with the one kentie made http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/

This is a known issue with the Sold Out release IIRC. Reinstall the 1.112fm patch (find it somewhere online) and the CDPath= trick will work. Alternatively copy the contents of the CD to somewhere on your computer and point the CDPath= to there instead.

Darn, Dave beat me too it. Yeah, I use the SoldOut GOTY version and I can't remember how or why I installed the patch over it but I did and the CD trick worked. As far as I can tell, installing the patch fixes the GOTY bugs too but I'll need to confirm that.
