I don't know if this is possible, but when you start a game you choose players real name. Is there a way of using this real name in a conversation? I wanted to use it in an intro conversation where the player is explaining his background on the storyline. The players name is their codename e.g. JC Denton. The real name is whatever you decide at the start screen where you choose skills and appearance. Example:
Player: Hello, I am lieutenant [insert real name] but most know me as [insert players name], but how I got that code name? Well that's another story for another day. etc...
I didn't think this would be possible with the current conedit as I couldn't figure it out, but how is real players name stored? Can anyone help? I won't be using audio so won't matter what players real name is.

Re: Conversation saying players real name
Try %firstname% or %playername%
I think that's how you put the player's name into email and such, not sure it'll work in conversations though.

Re: Conversation saying players real name
I don't ..think it will. I'm not actually sure conedit can be easily recoded to do it.
Actually, fuck: my conedit reads the text and attempts to lipsynch it (oh so hilariously badly), so presumably the text itself must be accessible. I'll have a look into it (if I remember -so not a guarantee with me these days).
Just to check, though: Morpheus, you do realise this will potentially result in conversations like
"So, we meet again FUNBAGS MCGRAW...yes, I know your real name....mwahahhaa"
which may or may not be desirable...

Yeah, I came to that conclusion, but thought if it were doable, might be worth trying. ANyway, its up to the player to choose their name, so if they want't funbags well thats their choice..um...yeah... well you get the idea.DDL wrote:I don't ..think it will.
