Cat Scratch and Rat Bite?

I see the Mutt will attack cats, etc, and has a preloaded dog bite attack. I also see the cats and rats have a native attack, but the cat class comes preloaded with it, the rat doesn't.

Do those attacks work?

However the cat flees from hostility, even if you set it hostile to a rat, so I can't seem to test if it will ever work.

Cats most certainly do attack rats. They also attack pigeons. However they either don't have an animation for it or it doesn't function, they just freeze with one paw out. Cats also eat the rat and bird carcasses. Strangely cats won't attack fish, nor will they eat fish carcasses (granted fish are only found in water where cats don't go but still.)
To see this just summon/spawnmass a/some cat(s) and some rats and pigeons.

Dunno what a rat would attack, they don't do anything to each other or pigeons.

Your right, but because fish are in water, if a cat goes in water, they just bounce up and down high so it couldn't get the fish anyway.

No, that's just how the fish defend themselves, by creating incredibly strong vertical currents.

Yeah, I just tried this, and it isn't working. I think you guys may have a mod installed, like shifter, or something, which makes this actual.

It's not a big deal; I'm just curious. Nice to know someone fixed it. It might be fun to watch it happen. Or to have some sort of scenario where the player had to escape a lab full of neo-rabid animals and had to avoid an animal attack.

Cats attacking rats is definitely a Shifter thing. The fact that there's not even an animation for it should be a clue.

I spawned a bunch of fish on land which upon dying (from lack of water presumably) left a fish carcass. Sadly the cats didn't eat them. I wanted to feed them something nice

I remember creating a salmon fish (with new mesh) that when it died, you could right click its carcass to "eat it" and gain 5 health or a cat/dog/karkian/greasel could do the same and gain the health...no idea what I did with the files though.
