Distributing game

A refuge for those migrating from the fallen DXEditing.com and a place for general discussion relating to Deus Ex editing (coding, mapping, etc).

I've got this problem. What do you need to fix the "Cannot find TexDetails.utx" issue? I can't seem to find that file anywhere in the DX or IW folders.

sorry, i should have shared this once i got this, but veronika uploaded a working install. Sorry you'll have to download it again: http://rusfolder.com/31741805

(just put in the person-checker code and click the button, and then download)

I'm currently fixing up a lot of stuff so i can share it later.

It seems you unzip the folder into the deus ex (so there is a DeusEx\IW [an IW folder in the DeusEx folder]) directory and run the command files as it suggests.

and

Oh wow! Veronika, not only does the install work, but it seems you did something to the rendering, because it looks sooo much better. Am I right, or am I deluded?

I added Direct3d9 rendering library, the mod uses it by default.

I've tried everything I can but it just won't work. When I try to launch the game it says its missing 'IWR'. I even copied all the files to original folders and couldn't open the first level.
I am using Veronika's version. Any ideas?

Curses, I'm sorry, but I think I'll have to wait for Veronika's response. I can't tell whether it is actually working, because I would have to delete all my system files to tell.

Make sure it is not unzipping such that it is DeusEx\IW\IW (two IW sub directories) but a single folder DeusEx\IW (just in case this is the case).

I'm sorry that isn't working, and I will try to find a different computer tomorrow to test out what may be wrong. There is always the possibility that you could load it up from the editor to play it:

System:

This is a little bit more complicated (and you would have to replace other package files [like TNMDeco.u which you may not want to do]) But you could place all the package files: meaning all the ".u"s (and dxogg.dll) from the iwsystem folder into the deusex/system folder. Also place IW.ini (rename it to DeusEx.ini and replace it with the old one in there), and User.ini in there.

Music:

You could then place the ogg folder (in the iw/music folder) and its files in the deusex/music folder.

Textures:

Place all the texture files (all the .utx files) in the deusex/textures folder.

Maps:

Place all the maps in the maps folder.

Play it:

You then open up the unreal editor, and it should automatically load everything. You simply load the map called 51_Gville_0.dx and either push the autoplay button or press ctrl-p to play it.

Finley's login, btw, is MFinley / tommy

Yeah, I'm sorry about that, my conspiracy theory is being kicked into over-drive (because of the batman massacre) at the moment, and I will release a working copy of an updated version. Is Veronika the only one who managed to play it?
