DX Editing SubForums

A refuge for those migrating from the fallen DXEditing.com and a place for general discussion relating to Deus Ex editing (coding, mapping, etc).

DX Editing SubForums

Post by Andrievskaya Veronika »

I think this subforum should have at least four additional subforums.

1: Scripting
2: Mapping
3: Modelling
4: Misc.

I think admin's lazyness can be avoided, since i have my own PHPBB3 forum (you cannot visit it here: http://localhost/phpbb3/), and making subforums is quite easy task...

Hmm, we'll take it under consideration. I do like organizing things, but I'm worried the different sub-forums might not be active enough to justify the page space they'd be taking.

Also i'd like to suggest to redirect from DxEditing.com and DxEditing.com/forums/ to this forum, not to main page :)

I think Editing and Offtopic should be enough sub forums.
I demand my DXE User ID back. Launcher for DeusEx, Rune, Nerf, Unreal & Botpack. HX on Mod DB. Revision on Steam.

Except there already IS an Off Topic forum, it's just part of the main forum. And since all Off Topic talk naturally falls in the same category, one is enough :)

We already have an off topic forum though. Why not just use that?

BUT, what about things that are off-topic to DX Editing, but are NOT off-topic to OTP? For example, TNM. I think we need a DX Editing OTF so that we can talk about TNM without fear of persecution.

How about you go here to talk about TNM unhindered?

I don't think that a vary good reason for having two off topic forums.

I could make this forum an OTF if you would like me too?

heh, dont rape DX Editing :/...

Anyway.. I'm really hoping for a mapping section at least. Maybe add a section that's for both Mapping and Script making? I can sure remember that there werent that much activity on DXEditing back then when the site was still up.. Right now it's really quite..

Maybe time will recover this.

I'm sure that if the DXE forums prove active enough to make it difficulty to navigate threads in one forum, They will create some subforums. 'till then I'm afraid we're stuck as it is.

I think you've got it backwards. You don't split forums and then populate them with posts, you have so many posts in one forum that the utility of splitting it becomes clear.

If there was a chance of people missing the newest mapping thread because coding threads had knocked it off the front page, or there were so many new threads that it was difficult to keep up with them all then I could see splitting this into multiple forums.

As is, take a look around. We've had ten threads in eleven days. There's not much point in splitting things up.

[Added:] Apparently Jaedar is faster than me.

Chris, Chris, you're clearly missing the point--the way it works is that the more forums you have, the more e-cool you have!
I mean, just look at a bar of gold (if you don't have one just laying around, then I'm afraid I am unable to adapt this analogy for you). That gold is awesome on its own, but if you have MORE bars of gold, you gain far more awesome and maybe some special abilities.

Now let's apply that to forums: with just one page of forums how can you live in dignity after seeing a forum totally decked out with a veritable monolith of wordfarms, all sitting there, fat and sassy, laughing at you... staring into your soul with that horrifying judgement of its worth....
