Recording DX with Fraps

How do you people get really good quality videos of DX (ie the TNM trailers)? I'm trying with Fraps at the moment but it always ends up with a really dark picture, even though it's the right brightness ingame - see here

I tried with San Andreas too with the exact same settings and that came out perfect - see here

What am I doing wrong with DX?

DX is a little odd in that respect, I'm not sure why. Although I don't think I upped the brightness when I recorded with fraps, but it does happen when taking screenshots. I'm using the enhanced OpenGL .dll though, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Deus Ex changes the gamma setting for the monitor. It's to make it darker, as well as make the graphics look better. I always like a dark gamma.

It's the same thing that messes up screenshots, unless you use the console command (sshot?). There should be a gamma setting in deusex.ini, but who knows if it would help. ISTR trying that, and DX just looking awful.

Ok, I installed the OpenGL renderer and that seems to have done the trick - see here
The brightness still doesn't look absolutely right, but I think it's as good as it's gonna get.
