Deus Ex, original Source Code?

Post by NESnero »

Hey, I've started to attempt to run Deus Ex on Linux without WINE ( I plan to compile it in linux, along with a library to deal with mouse input and locking )

So I was wondering if the original games source code was ever released anywhere, and if it was, how would i obtain it. It would be a gigantic help to me and a lot of people.

Thanks

Sorry, it was not. Deus Ex uses the Unreal Engine 1.5, and Epic never open-sourced it because they've kept working with that code all the way up to the modern version of the engine. The closest you can get is the headers included in the Deus Ex SDK, which you can use to override the native functions of the engine, but I doubt that'll be any use in terms of getting the game to run on Linux.

Damn. I thought as much, oh well I'll have to try making a creating a faux environment that doesn't om nom as much system recourse as WINE.

I run Deus Ex through Wine on a 1.6Ghz Atom Netbook and never had an issue with it, other than the damn trackpad.
I didn't think Wine used that many system resources.
The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.
