Favorite lines from DX
Deus Ex... ahhh. Probably the best game conversations ever made.
There is few that always made me laugh for some strange reasons that are hard to explain.
Do you have some favorites lines?
This is probably my choice:
The conversation between JC and Stanton Dowd when thy talk about sinking WallCloud.
"Crack those up, reverse the bilge pumps, and the ship will split open like a banana."
Haha! That line and how Dowd says it always made me split open, like a banana.

Alex Jacobson: They'll have you killed. They won't even blink an eye.
JC Denton: Neither did I.

Re: Favorite lines from DX
I love Icarus & Helios' lines in the game.
Mainly throughout Paris when he first starts talking to you..
Scared the crap outa me.
In fact i can think of quite alot of conversations with fairly unimportant characters in the game that truely stand out to me.
Deus Ex was/is an amazing game for conversations. (And everything really )

The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.
Re: Favorite lines from DX
The one where that soldier in UNATCO HQ is talking to the secretary type about his recent actions in battle. Sheesh, I can't remember his name, and can't quote the lines, but I suppose everyone knows the one I mean.

Lol..i think thats Kaplan..the dude who also nicks stuff from the armory.bobby 55 wrote:The one where that soldier in UNATCO HQ is talking to the secretary type about his recent actions in battle. I loved the bum in Battery Park singing "my country tis of thee"..not lines exactly.
And..Walton Simons: You take another step forward and here I am again, like your own reflection in a hall of mirrors.
JC Denton: That makes me one ugly son of a bitch. How'd my face get all marked up with bioelectrics?
When the remarkable becomes bizarre, reason turns rancid.
Re: Favorite lines from DX
Well there is the whole romance sub plot of kaplan and the secretary stealing stuff and selling it on for a profit and how Unatco was losing a lot of money because of that.
is the best."I spill my drink"
Paul, I know you said no phone messages, but South Street's going up in smoke. We'll have to meet at the subway station.

Private Newman... I think that's only time you see him.bobby 55 wrote:The one where that soldier in UNATCO HQ is talking to the secretary type about his recent actions in battle. Sheesh, I can't remember his name, and can't quote the lines, but I suppose everyone knows the one I mean.

Sadly the script there is missing the lines for if you walked in on her in the bathroom.
Shannon:"Leave me alone, agent"
Private Newman:"Is there a problem?"
Shannon: "This is the guy I told you about." (maybe references to the bathroom?)
P Newman: "Oh, uhhh..."
Newman's response is great; it's like he wants to defend the nice lady flirting with him(probably just so she can steal something from him), but at the same time he also knows JC could kick his ass.

Thanks heaps for that link JC_Helios. I found the convo I meant thanks to you.
SHANNON
Then what'd you do?
TROOPER
I chased them into the building.
SHANNON
Weren't you scared?
TROOPER
A little, but when I'm wearing this helmet I've learned to set aside the
instincts of a civilian and be completely professional.
SHANNON
They had assault guns!
TROOPER
Tactically, I had the advantage. It was important to act before the situation
changed.
SHANNON
How you troopers do it, I can't imagine...
TROOPER
My vest caught a few slugs, but I had a job to do and I did it.
SHANNON
Amazing.

"I spill my drink!"
Is quite popular. Haha!
What about Rock:
"Bitch I ain't goin' back to jail!"
And of course the addict in the bathroom:
"Get out! I got a bomb!"
Where JC replies something like:
"A bomb is a bad choice for closerange combat."
Then the bum near the Gas Station:
"I'm gonna sneak in there while they're sleeping and start a fire!"

"Meester Jay-Cee Denton, in da flesh; as dark and seerious as his brother"
We need to have a conversation only using lines from DX; I'll start:
"Mr Carter, can I ask you a question?"

Re: Favorite lines from DX
Combo breakin'.
My favorites would be:
"GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, DENTON"
"Shuure"
"I SPILL MY DREENK"
"Ret's just say"
and
"I refuse to babysit a grown man!"
I am seriously confused. If someone could clear it up for me...

When I heard that convo, it sounded like the trooper was describing sorta what JC did. Is he actually describing what he did or what?bobby 55 wrote:Thanks heaps for that link JC_Helios. I found the convo I meant thanks to you.

Yeah, I always thought he was taking credit for JC's work and was using it to impress Shannon. The voice acting makes it humorous imo.Angel-A wrote:

Your parents were murdered precisely because they could have told you the correct answer to that question.fantsu wrote:What boxes?Babeuf97 wrote:Suuure."Mr Carter, can I ask you a question?"
