I'm in a Deus Ex mood, though I don't feel like playing through the entire game again...

With the exception of Redsun 2020 & Zodiac, would anyone be so kind as to suggest to me some of their favorite fan missions and possibly a brief description of what its about...

And can anyone explain how I can get the Team UC Mod Loader to work,
everyone time I go to load a mod it says:
"Failed to load Dx.dx: Can't find file for package 'bigal'"
The package name changes with each different Mission I try obviously.

Also does Shifter mess with any of these fan missions, I started playing Double Cross Chapter 1, and once I got to the second map I couldn't do anything but walk around and jump...

You gotta try Hotel Carone and Burden of 80 Proof. HC is the proper DX style, Burden is... different. But in a good way.

Sounds like you're out-dated, that was an old glitch with mods, where after loading the second map in the mod your entire inventory would lock down. If you want to fix it without updating, then just activate cheats by adding the -hax0r command line. (For some reason cheats "unlocks" your inventory)

The most recent version is:

1.8 beta 7
http://www.savefile.com/projects/218988
(The most recent Shifter related files will always show up here first)
Also the final 1.8 version should be out by February 14th if you want to wait for that

JC_Helios: I think I'll wait for the full version of 1.8, but thanks for the help.

Jonas: Thanks for the advice, I played Burden of 80 Proof, while the sought of characters depicted in the mod are the type of people I least like to be around, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of polish in the mod, its very very well done.
The best bits:
- 'Beta-Testing' The shop owners new video game
- The final five minutes, getting in and out of the office, most tense!
Did this mod influence TNM much?

But I have a question about the Zodiac mod:
After googling for the answer for about half an hour, and feeling the urge to place my fist firmly through my computer monitor, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get to out of the Cloning Labs on level 3?

God Bless,

Don't worry, figured it out, that little indent in the wall in the large cloning room is hard to spot, I actually walked right past it the first time, talk about bad luck.

Not directly, but I guess you always draw a little influence from other mods. The humour in TNM is somewhat different, a bit more geeky and less universal, and it's not the centrepiece of the mod like it is in Burden.

May I suggest 2 new mods? ;)

DX: The Nowhere:
http://dxnowhere.ovh.org/
Progress seems to have slowed down a bit here

DX: Mutations
http://www.freewebs.com/dxmutations/
This one's been released and is not bad at all, you can read my review here:

It's probably slow because the website is FREE-FREE-FREE.
Have you tried it? The final release was posted about a week ago.

I have installed the beta(?) here, but somehow it loads the normal Deus Ex whenever I click the link, so I started playing that. (prolly a wine issue) I'll try the final release :)

As posted on the web site and in the installation agreement, Mutations has only been tested with the original game files running on 98 or XP (HE). Windows Vista, mods such as Shifter and HDTP and others have not been tested. I don't have resources available for such testing and would rather being something else. However, if someone would like to provide such test information, I'll put it on the website.

By "link", I guess you mean the desktop icon or a shortcut provided by the installation. The "Mutations.Exe" file is just a copy of the original "DeusEx.Exe" file. So, if not started with proper INI files would run normal DX instead of. You might check the propteries of the desktop icon or shortcut, it should read "<Drive>:/DeusEx/system/Mutations.exe INI=Mutations.INI USERINI=MutationsUser.ini".

But as far as WINE is concerned I just don't know what issues you might encounter. Let me know if anything I was helpful.
