Problems with WIN7

Post by fantsu »

Just installed my Deus Ex again (Sold Out GOTY version).
Updated it it 112fm (it was 112f on my disc).

It has this WEIRD framerate issue, if you call it that. The video kinda slows down and fasten ups every second or two.
Running it in WIN7, used to work with XP, tried the compatibility mode on XP service pack 3, but it still does it.

The audio is just fine, the game kinda just lags strangely. Even when you run you see that you are running slower for a while.

Anyone else has this problem?

The framerate itself is perfect, this isn't your ordinary lag or slowdown.

Is my disc going bad? It doesn't sound different and it looks perfect.

Have you tried using Kentie's launcher or Hanfling's launcher?

Hanfling's is the most transparent one, since it works exactly like the original launcher except it fixes a lot of stability issues. However most people prefer Kentie's launcher for its configuration options.

I was hoping not to install anything like these, but tried Kentie anyways.
It fixed the problem entirely.
Thank you.

The thing is it's not so much Windows 7 as it is that OS is installed mainly on PCs with multicore processors. The processors cause the speed issues. When HDTP and NV are fully done we'll have to organize a comprehensive Deus Ex fix list, mod installation, mod compatibility page and/or Wiki.

That would be amazing because I've really lost track of all mods and launchers and intercompatibility and current states.

That sounds like a great idea Bobby!

With all the mods and the number of things that can glitch them and Deus Ex (vanilla and modded) it's no wonder people can have difficulties. I know a lot of issues have been answered individually, but if you're not sure what's causing the problem or how to get "search" to take you to the appropriate thread then it can get frustrating. I know some of us here have helped different people with the same problem because they couldn't find the solution they wanted themselves. Jeez, I can't say I'm sure about which mod is or isn't compatible with another, other than the ones I always play. Finally, Deus Ex finds some strange ways to glitch as well.

Added: How about Deus Ex....Augmented as a title?
