Is this math correct? *Deus Ex spoilers*

Post by deuxhero »

when escaping Unatco HQ the Walton Simons/Manderly conversation says your kill switch has been on an hour, after escapeing jock says your switch is 12 hours old.

This means it took less then 11 hours to get too Hong Kong

Hong Kong and Liberity Island are roughly 8,050 miles apart, divided by 11 that means the Black Helicopter goes roughly 731 MPH.

If all your figures are correct, then yes, the math does check out.

That would also mean that the helicopter can break the sound barrier(?), which is a cool factoid.

Kewl. Plus the whole "escape from the helicopter bay" thing must have taken some time.

Stealth helicopter could go over restricted airspace, so it could be "as the crow flies".

Good findings. It's a shame that the time doesn't run out either on the killswitch or the freighter. Would be nice to see two more alternative endings.

You mean where you die and MJ12 wins the day? That would be interesting to see. If they had done that, perhaps there would be some single player mods based around the idea that JC died and someone else has to step up to the plate and decide the worlds fate.

It'd be less of an alternate ending and more a game over video. Like they had in LBA2 if you got killed after they start propelling Emerald moon towards Twinsun.

Although I'm betting no one here can remember/has played LBA2 so that probably made sense to no-one.

How 'bout "Like in System Shock 1 if you die in an area where you haven't turned on the respawn chamber, and a movie plays of your corpse being found and scavenged and cyborg-ized by SHODAN's robots."

Never played SS1 and I got bored of SS2 by the first level, so I wouldn't know.

your code fragment doesn't have a function declaration behind it and you fail to include iostream or specify that you're using the std namespace

I remember trying to hurry to finish before the killswitch worked. I remember figuring it didn't matter once I got into Hong Kong. A worse game would have the player die after a set amount of time.

Dead-eye failed to use CODE tags and wrote:{
int world = 1;
cout << "end world" << endl ;
world --;
}

Code: Select all

<?php
$world = 1;
echo "end world";
$world--;
?>
Now THAT'S how you programatically end the world!

Tell Application "World"
End
End Tell

if world = true
then print "goodbye cruel world":set false -> world

This is why I don't program anymore. I tend to end worlds. Poorly. I don't think that justifies a code tag, do you?
