That weapon mod interface looks very Crysis.

Human Revolution is one of my favourite games ever, so... I'm okay with a direct sequel. I do hope the series doesn't stagnate too fast, eventually they have to try and innovate again or it'll no longer be Deus Ex, but for now... yeah I'm happy about this. It looks good.

I'm not too hopeful for this new Deus Ex as I have a love/hate relationship with Human Revolution and I am expecting more of the same in most respects. I will most definitely purchase it and see how it turns out, unless it gets universally trashed of course.

Personally I'm not a fan of that system (in my Deus Ex, anyhow) as it is anti-choice and consequence. Every applied weapon mod in DX is a permanent decision (as with all the RPG systems if course) and I like that. It may not be realistic, but damn is it good for C&C, replayability and strategy in how to build your character.

This was exactly my feeling. Being able to toggle between explosive and regular bullets doesn't seem like a big loss.

Except not really. All weapon mods in Deus Ex are strictly positive, so there's not much CnC in it. Hopefully in MD they will dare to experiment with mods that are both positive and negative since there its not a big issue if you accidentally scrap your weapon.

They leaked some more info, apparently the canon ending is a "bit of a mix of all of them". Smells a lot like Invisible War.

Oh and the game apparantly takes place 2 years after HR, but I remember chris telling me the world should suffer a huge and devestating economic collapse in that time. Not that eidos had a lot of respect for the source material either way.

Aaaand the trailer:

The storyline sounds really bad.
People with augments versus people without.
You are an augmented guy hunting down... augmented ones. Wtf.
Sounds like the random chit chat will be straight from HR... people talking only about augments. Maybe they'll re-use the same lines.

The (negative) consequence of applying a weapon mod to one specific weapon is that you cannot apply it to another that you may have liked to mod. With a Crysis-Like system this is not true, you can switch at any time, no meaningful choice.

Jeez, did it get a little TTLG in here all of a sudden?

I think that trailer is pretty great for a non-gameplay video. They even show off a bunch of new gameplay features.

Because stealth looks so great on video. 2 minutes of Adam Jensen sitting in cover watching enemy patrols for 30 seconds at a time before cloaking and making a run for it to the next piece of cover ;)

Did they?

Some new augmentations sure, does that count as gameplay features?

Apparently Jensen is supposed to have a mix of mech and nanotech augs now. I don't think I like this.

I think they're giving up on basically any hope of realistically fitting it into the actual DX universe. Mind you, they did that as soon as "LOL CYBER RENAISSANCE" was a thing. And everything became orange.

But hey. WRISTBLADE ALL THE THINGS

How can you be the only one who can get away with using ALL CAPS excessively? You just pull it off, and it works, often making me crack a smile. You have the all caps gift.

I hope it has mod support as that was the biggest flaw with HR.

The graphics also look VERY GOOD, but that's almost expected with an AAA game of such calibur. I'm more interested about the story. It hopefully explains why there aren't very much mechanically augmented people in Deus Ex 1 compared to Human Revolution.

Oh well, so much for the original source material. Sheldon Pacotti I miss you!

I dunno what I think. I don't even consider Post-Ion Storm Deus ex canon. Hell, even some mods for the original (Nihilium, ZODIAC...) pay more attention to it.
