Things in life you noticed first in Deus Ex

Post by Placebo »

For me it was the sound of the alarm.
Every time I hear it in a movie, i think of DX

Same as the sound of using biocells

For me it was the Statue of Liberty. I played the demo first. Or at least a small part of it. It opens right up to the statue, sans head.

You know it's really weird but you know how you always had to keep an eye out for security cameras? I distinctly recall being security camera aware in the real world after playing DX lol. I started noticing cameras i'd never taken notice of before! It was weird but funny lol.

Hey it's funny you say that, I always note the locations of security cameras when I walk into surveilled buildings now. I don't know if it's DX's fault, games in general, or if I did it before I started playing a lot anyway, but it probably wouldn't be a stretch to put it down to DX.

Lol yes
I was in this big line waiting for a healer Mekki Torabi and we were all in this huge saloon divided by walls. anyways i started noticing the vents and how all around it's construction seemed pretty spacey to crouch and walk above it, but it was to fragile....

About notepads....when I first played Deus Ex, i used a REAL notepad 8) for writing down codes and passwords

Oh my God YES! Air vents of all things! Do you guys check them out and start wondering if you could actually 1. open it with your bare hands, 2. pull it off the wall and place on the side with satisfying clunk and 3. be able to squeeze into air vent?

Happy days :D

Wow, now that you mention it I recall being very nervous in places with high surveillance (I hate walmart) and I always notice vents, cover that kind of thing. I sense that I will be paranoid in the future :(

The demo's different to the game?

The demo was the first level of the game (later updated to include the second level as well). I don't remember how it was in terms of cutscenes.

I meant in terms of level design. In Jonas' post he seems to imply that when you leave the docks on Liberty Island you immediately face the statue.
