Wan Chai Market help?
Ok, so i've just been through VersaLife and i'm trying to enter the Luminous Path base to see Tong, but the codes seem to have changed for it. I entered the 1997 code for the door which was apparently the wrong password (But i managed to enter by piling objects up and jumping over the door). But when i try to enter the secret area to see Tong (Downstairs in the base), instead of there being a 4 no. code (1997) its six numbers instead. Sorry if i'm not making much sense, but i'll explain more if i need to. Anyway, point is, can i have some help please?

Are you trying to enter the compound before you're supposed to?

Re: Wan Chai Market help?
Correct me if I am wrong, but are not the doors supposed to remain open after you enter the code? If you have a savegame from before the problem, you may be able to repair it by going through Vaersalife again...

Re: Wan Chai Market help?
You're not supposed to know the code 1997 until the dialog reveals it to you. The doors will open once you complete more of whatever missions are in HK first.
Re: Wan Chai Market help?
No i'm supposed to be there. I've had the killswitch deactivated and i was then told to go to Versalife by Tong, which i did so and finsihed what i had to do there. I then went to see Chen, went to the meeting in the temple, went down to Lucky Money for drinks and then tried to enter the Luminous Path compound with the normal code (1997) which was apparently the wrong code (When it's definatly the right one, and it definatly hasn't changed). Anyway, i managed to get over the door to the base by piling up some objects and jumping over the door. So i went through the base downstairs to the second keypad (1997) but it's been replaced by a 6 numbered keypad and i haven't been told about it (I've checked alll notes, conversations etc).
Sorry for rewriting it, but just clarifying it.

In that case, I'd say just noclip through it and continue on your way.

Re: Wan Chai Market help?
You guys realize that you CAN actually enter Tong's base before you know the code.. and go on a bloody rampage while you're inside. I wrote a guide on how to do this Aaaaages ago about cool things you can do in Deus Ex and that was one of them. (you use a series of crates/objects to jump the fence.) The problem is though that the code to get into Tongs lab has been changed as to avoid breaking the game. But with some smart ass editing to the level you can get in there right away.. problem is that it causes you to skip a chunk of the story by doing that so things may make not a lot of sense (like NPCs saying NO ENTRY when you're supposed to be friends with them.)
I love trying to break this game.
To me it either sounds like a bug where its loaded the map BEFORE you befriend Tracer Tong. I don't think we've got enough info though to prove that.

I've hit that issue before then. It's usually something I forgot or or a flag I managed not to trip. I noclip through it too when that happens.
Re: Wan Chai Market help?
Have you killed Gordon Quick?
Re: Wan Chai Market help?
Nope i didn't.
And i had to pile the boxes up to get over it, because for some reason, the code wasn't working for the front gate.
And how do you get cheats to work? I know you have to change the command line, but what file and what do you enter? (In the command line)

Press T,
it should come up with >Say
delete say
then type in the long like DeusEx.JCDentonMale bCheatsEnabled True (not sure if that's the exact line but if you googled the cheats you should have it)
to test if the cheats worked press T again
remove Say
type in LEGEND
this should present the level select menu.

Re: Wan Chai Market help?
Because they don't understand object-oriented programming or they just haven't bothered looking properly into the code
I actually learned the easy way from DDL. Of course it's even easier to just add -hax0r to your shortcut destination.
