Alpha Protocol

Post by Jaedar »

This game needs its own topic.

So, I have seen some early reviews. It is looking really good: Like beyond my expectations good. They complain about the graphics, animations and lack of physics, but the game still gets high scores. Not 10/10s mind you, but those PERFACT!!! scores just make me suspicious.

This is basically all I could have hoped for, that the game has poor graphics, but still manages to get good grades. My one greatest fear for AP has never really been that it would be bad, rather that it would be totally awesome, but all the reviewing folk would let it slip by because of the poor graphics. The fact that early reviews are giving it thumbs up... may just be the best thing to happen to RPG's in a long time.

To sum up, early reports are making me VERY optimistic.

I can't tell you how much it surprises and pleases me that you're optimistic ;)

Needless to say I am unbelievably excited about this game. It's... Deus Ex marries Splinter Cell and has an affair with Mass Effect. And it's written by Chris Avellone. I can't see how they could possibly fuck this one up.

That said, I'm staying well clear of any information about AP, and have been for a while. I've already decided to preorder it, so I want to know as little about it as possible, so that it may more easily surprise me.

Yes it should be great. My pre-order is in and we get it before the States this time. Six days to go according to Steam.

I remember being incredibly excited about games that weren't out yet, but I'm having trouble remembering what games ruined that for me. Probably all the N64 games that kept being delayed, or came out poorly.

That said, a new game similar to Deus Ex sounds interesting. Keep us posted.

It's probably got a metric ton of bugs. So maybe if your game gets unfinishable over and over?
That's about all I can think off...
Can somebody tell me how I can get a custom avatar?
Oh wait, I already got one...

Is it really?

I was under the impression that Avellone was more of a lead developer than writer these days. He probably does some writing still, but I doubt he does everything, or even the majority. unfortunately.

They've shamelessly delayed like twice already, so I bloody well hope not. Alt: the community will fix it ala Bloodlines if it is good enough(and it will be :))

Well he's lead designer on it, same as he was on Torment. He probably splits the writing with the other designers/writers, but I would be surprised if his fingerprints weren't all over it, since it's all his responsibility as a lead designer.

I just spent 20 minutes on the Steam forum for AP. Don't go there if you need cheering up.

Hahaha, there are 2 posts. To be fair though the forum link in the store page links to the obsidian forums.

That was pretty cool. Interactive trailer for the game, about 3 or 4 nodes deep.

I chose to go after the agency. Then I got an offer, which I refused and it did not end well. What happened to you guys?

Fair enough, although the forums are more like "Rumour Central" than anything else. :P
