I'm serious about the Kickstarter. It'll be the scariest fucking thing I've ever done, but we have to give it a shot.

Yikes! At least 4 weeks gives me a chance to gather some spare cash to invest.

Somehow I doubt there are enough TNM fans in the world to scrounge up $70k, so hopefully we can get the word out through sites like RPS and such. Too bad RPS has started collecting all the Kickstarter news in one regular post.

And hey, I appreciate the good-will, but this is going to be substantially different from TNM, so don't promise anything until you see what we're working on ;)

Alternatively you could just read these, I guess:

Thanks for being up-front and all...but, some of us are crazy enough to throw a few bucks in even if we don't play the game. ;)

Yep. I now have the money I could never throw at TNM.

I don't think I'll spend more than €50 though... But that depends on the pitch ;)

Continue the discussion about Jonas' cool & ambitious kickstarter, just popping in with bit more on Dishonored.

Seems like they are sticking to thier roots and continuing the work of Looking Glass with Dishonored.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VV1suxDqqE

These devs are awesome, they recognise Looking Glass' design principles are superior to all when it comes to FP/RPGs.

Also this: "There's a lot of stuff to be found in our levels! Aside from notes, books, runes and bone charms, there are various ammo types and valuable items... These will be useful when you'll want to spend money to buy upgrades for your weapons and gadgets from a few NPCs acting as shopkeepers (one will be located in the hub)!"

Imo There hasn't been a true Immersive Sim since Arx Fatalis, Dishonored will change this, it wont be a sell-out like Bioshock.

Cheers Jaedar. That makes me want the game more than ever. I'm definitely trying that suicide trick.

I love easy games :D

In what way does it look too easy though? I'm guessing it's being played by a developer, most games are pretty easy when you're the one who made it. It also seems like your powers will depend on some sort of resource, so hopefully you'll have to think about how and when to use those resources.

Also notice around 4:40 he gets into a fight where he pretty much immediately incapacitates all his opponents with a special power, but he still manages to lose half his health in that short time.

Looks about right to me.

I'm referring more to how easy it looks to incapacitate enemies stealthily. The fact that you have infinite teleports, can see through walls not to mention stop time to clear an entire room of enemies...

Doesn't mean it won't be fun though, DX ain't so hard either.

So about as easy as every stealth game since Splinter Cell, you mean?

Well yeah but all those things will depend on a resource, sooo...

Isn't that just because you know it inside-out like the rest of us? ;)

But anyway I generally find that properly emergent games tend to be pretty easy, because they come with lots and lots of cheap exploits and emergent strategies that the AI couldn't dream of being able to deal with. That's a good thing! Leaves you more room to fuck around and poke things to see what happens :D
