Pledges are up by almost $5000 in one day.
Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
What in the...
7 people backed for 3k. Wow.
Hrm. Maybe the reason for that is that some of your pleges are increasing their pledge due to the updates you put out? I actually imagine that has something to do with it....

Where do you see that Aemer? All I see is a single person who does 1K, the rest is lower than that.
And I had no part in making it $5K these past few days, not my budget 0_0

I doubt it, or AI's wouldn't be so bad in most modern games.Jonas wrote:Impressive perhaps, but super simple to set up.
As would the player I imagine. It does make it hard getting behind someone if you need to cross an adjacent tile for it.But we just re-implemented attacks of opportunity for moving around characters as well as away from them, which makes it pretty hard to flank, and now the AI does it a lot less.
You guys are famous! And yeah that's the real Josh Sawyer, the Codex tweeted our Kickstarter at him and he pledged the next day. Cobbett, I poked myself
Can somebody tell me how I can get a custom avatar?
Oh wait, I already got one...

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
If we were famous we'd have a million dollars by now, like Tim Schafer. I'm not bitter, just a bit drunk!
But serious making the AI flank was simple. The AI is just a mildly complicated and very well designed state machine, it's simple in technical terms, but cleverly put together because our coder is sharp. It helps that the game is turn-based and uses a grid, it's not THAT hard to code stuff on a grid, ya know?

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
Okay so sorry for double-post but I just have to say this. Holy fuck this game is fun. I dunno, it's stupid for me to say this since I designed it, but I'm having a god damn blast every time I play it. It's so rewarding to lure an enemy into an ambush, flank them and kick their ass, it's so much fucking fun to win a fight against an enemy that was twice as numerous as you because you gave all your equipment to one guy who was levelled all the way up and he just held all the enemies at bay with the help of one healer while your other people stayed behind and sniped at the enemies, and it's strangely awesome to lose somebody you really liked and throw your fists to the sky shouting NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I don't even know why I like Sierra Barreiro so much except she has an interesting bio and a cute portrait, plus I really like her name. I pick her every time, even if her personality traits are completely at odds with what I'm trying to accomplish.
I've had a little too much to drink, I don't like gushing over my own game like this, but sometimes I just play through something I've designed and I feel so goddamn proud at what I've helped to achieve, and I want everybody else to try it out and feel that same satisfaction when things go wrong, that same despair when you know you're going to lose. It's good stuff man.
Video games. Man.

Friends and family, I'm afraid. Let's see if all the press-spam I've been sending out today and yesterday will have an effect.

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
I just pledged $30. I'll up that the next couple of pays.
Added: Wow, another $2500 pledge today... plus a few hundred in other pledges. There's nearly 50% of the target reached.

Almost $33,000! The trend is looking good at the moment, I hope it keeps up. You're almost half-way through already. Very nice. Very nice indeed.
I cannot but love Kickstarter. It gets me excited every time.

You should really remove the shadows from the spinning icons. Also I hope the quests aren't all fetch quests.

All of the quests involve going somewhere and doing something. You can expand the term "fetch quest" to involve pretty much anything.
The icons are temporary. I'm pretty sure I said so in the video.

That you did.Jonas wrote:The icons are temporary. I'm pretty sure I said so in the video.
Well, what I mean is that I hope some of the quests will involve exploring and not just getting a waypoint to go to. Or say, if you get a quest to deal with a village, you can visit the village but you can also find their water supply and poison it or stuff like that. You know, exploration and such.Jonas wrote:All of the quests involve going somewhere and doing something. You can expand the term "fetch quest" to involve pretty much anything.
