Could be all sorts of things. Mistyped credit card info, problems with international bank transfers... no idea

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
I hope they weren't "fake" pledges. That's happened to other projects apparently. Although, if like me, they have a debit card, then it could be just not having enough funds in their linked savings account. My transaction did go through according to my credit union I'm happy to say.

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
So, if the $3500 don't surface no passive upgrades per levelgain?
Can somebody tell me how I can get a custom avatar?
Oh wait, I already got one...

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
We're pretty hell-bent on doing those passive skills, but since we won't be able to afford hiring any new team members, we may have to cut something else. No idea what it'll be, we'll see when the deadline approaches.
Making games is fucking expensive, just so you know. Those Danish salaries man, those fucking Danish costs of living.

Well, you can always hire cheap Dutch QA-testers part-time

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
With our current budget, "cheap" does not cut it. Anything more than "free" is too expensive.

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
Well then I'm offering myself as free QA tester
Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
I will keep it in mind, but we're probably going to do our actual QA in-office
If you pledged $30 to the Kickstarter (or to our Paypal once that goes up) you'll get the new build some time next week!

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
I did but I'm probably not going to play E:C until the final release (unless I can make myself useful as tester). I prefer to wait until the product is perfect

HAH! We're making an RPG for $150,000, it's never going to be perfect

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
Isn't the major time investment in making passive skills going to be implementing them?
Testing them shouldn't take that long I think. Anyway, I hope you manage to get some in there.

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
Yeah, you're right. It's not like anyone, and in particular anyone we know, would harp on a game for having unbalanced skills...and if we did know someone like that, it's not like we'd claim some decemt QA testing wouldn't have caught it.Jaedar wrote:Isn't the major time investment in making passive skills going to be implementing them?

Ahem. They. Yes.
Because the two of us Jaedar, we're easy to please and we never write diatribes about the failings of games.
@ Jonas
unfortunately I don't think there's any way to decrease the cost of living in Denmark; best you could do would be to rent a farm somewhere.
Part game studio, part 8 spare-time farm hands. Don't quite think that concept will go down well with most budding developers though ^^

Game balance is overrated.

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
So long as the game is over decently quickly after you get OP, yeah, I actually agree.
Game balance is only important for the first 70-80% of the game. The rest is cake, and you can afford to let the player be op .

Re: Conquistador Kickstarter is live
Well, even then, game balance is single player is not essential. It's ok if one thing is really overpowered(like running full mage party in origins) because you can just not do that. I still prefer it if it isn't overpowered and has pros and cons, but there you go. It is however important that not everything is broken, or you wind up with something like skyrim where like one third the skills must be avoided either because they're way too powerful, or because they're way too weak.
I dunno. I like my endgame challenging.AEmer wrote:So long as the game is over decently quickly after you get OP, yeah, I actually agree.
