Game OST's

Post by Cybernetic pig »

Just because. Pick whatever you like at present or all time.

Mix of present time/all time for me:

VTMB - Disturbed and Twisted combat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRDTre9qfpo
This game needs more mods.

Castlevania: SOTN- Dance of Pales: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClRWF0utJWs
You wont find another 2D game this good, and such a good soundtrack.

System Shock- Executive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3q356rZqQ4
Cool soundtrack, outstanding game.

Donkey Kong Country 2- Hot Head Bop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlFYSIyAGmA
Cool platformer. Best thing about the game is probably the soundtrack though.

GTA: Liberty City Stories- Jungle/Dnb radio set on MSX 98FM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5m7BHRWpoUs
Game was nothing special. This set was memorable though.

I really like the Machinarium soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jryus3IfS6Y

I also like the Morrowind soundtrack, if only for my fond memories of that game.

Dragon Age Origins does it for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUHqhlmiW8s

TNM on hot summer's days and when it's released Expeditions: Conquistador will be added...it'll transport you to another place.

Oh, this one needs posting now:

System Shock- Reactor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfjIpc_Lbjk

And Tenchu (1998), has an absolutely brilliant soundtrack all round:

Indeed Vampire Bloodlines has an interresting soundtrack.

Curiously enough, the Bloodline Theme (main menu music, uncredited) is suspiciously similar to Massive Attack 'Angel':

Bloodlines Theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHtDvXU10Wg

Massive Attack 'Angel': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbe3CQamF8k

Note: never try to listen to Bloodlines music files with Media Player. If you do WMP will add some tags to the files, which will change their size. This makes the game crash. (just copy the files in some other folder OR use another player like Winamp or something).

I always felt I had heard that music elsewhere, it is quite similar.

The ending track in VTMB is really something, im not even a fan of metal, but this one is special: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD3tUCnL5V0

Man, now I want to find my SNES so I can play Donkey Kong Country 2 again. I feel like that was such a jump in quality from the first game, music included.

I hope one of these days I can play System Shock at 1024x768 without the framerate being choppy as hell.

I disagree. Gameplay was a slight improvement, but the music was just as brilliant imo. I should only need to post this one track to refresh your memory ;)

Also, about Shock, have you tried System Shock Portable? That should fix your problem.

Yeah, SSP is what I use, but the high-res mods just tend to get really bad framerates across-the-board, it seems. Probably not on a decent modern computer, maybe, although then you have to run it in DOSBox.

Me neither, it's just that the Bloodlines soundtrack fits well with the game's mood (depressing...that is).

Jade Empire Main Theme (by Jack Wall): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHYARoLPpDw

the music is very moving, it catches the oriental atmosphere of the game perfectly.

Shadowrun Snes 'Walking the shadows' (by Marshall Parker): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZON1ryN5xlM

this great game has a kick-ass soundtrack. This is the first song you hear when you start the game (in a morgue ; ).

Wild Arms 1 Intro (by Michiko Naruke): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoJVn3pD2kY

Michiko Naruke was gifted enough to compose an entire soundtrack with a Far West feel to it. The album is just beautiful.

Beyond good and evil had an amazing soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxKBCLPP20s

Neverwinter nights 2 had nice themes, and Storm of Zehir had nice combat soundtrack in general. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmDyYORSPFY

Chaos gate is broken beyond belief, but of all the w40k games it captured the atmosphere best through the soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOXe0RfMHvo (skip to 4:20 for second track)

Obligatory old game piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSsfjHCFosw

A cold beverage and a couple of tracks from the TNM OST got me through yesterday's sweltering conditions. Leo Badinella has really done a superb job with the Expeditions: Conquistador music. It transports me to unexplored jungles.

I didn't know Leo had done the Expeditions: Conquistador Soundtrack too! His personal stuff he did for his album rocks too! :D

Also, I still fucking love the original Spyro trilogy music.
The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

Ha ha, a guilty pleasure of mine. Was a dude from the band The Police who composed it.
Strikethrough because I have only played the original spyro. Childhood gaming memories ftw.
