"Commander, it's a message from our colony on jupiter! They're under attack!"

"Well, that would probably be useful to know if it hadn't taken the message 45 minutes to get here, and if it didn't take us five months to get there. Send them a tightbeam sadface smily."

Hahaha =D>

Actually it would make for some engaging drama I'd say. Such situations would definitely require strong preparation; if you fail, you can see the disaster unfold without being able to intervene. It would probably make for a better novel or film than a game though.

I beleive you mean Europa since jupiter is a gas giant and can't be colonized :giggle:

Says you! :P

Good luck colonising a giant tectonic ice sheet; I'll be sitting here in my vacuum dirigible, floating around in jupiter's upper atmosphere, hoovering up all that lovely Helium3 and selling it on craigslist.

I may, however, trade for some water. :/

You'll be cooked from radiation. Go live on saturn or neptune or something.

Mars is much better, it has a safer atmosphere, its not breathable as is, but better than other options. Also has frozen water but I don't think its drinkable if unfrozen as its so salty and acidic. Just do a Futurama and terraform it.

Haven't you played doom? Or watched aliens attack?

Mars is a dangerous place not fit for colonization.

Or Mission to Mars, etc. etc. Dunno why Mars is so scary. Because the dust is a little bit red, I guess?

That, and the whole "canal" thing which got the prospect of life there going. Add a few dollops of human imagination plus the fear of the unknown.

I didn't just huff an extra bit of air through my nose at this, I actually laughed.
