The Multiplayer in SS2 has always been a problem, and from what I gather it's even worse with this version.

This isn't because GOG botched anything, it's just that the New Dark Engine (which enables 32-Bit mode and fixes a truckload of glitches) was mostly designed for Single Play.

At least the Single Player in GOG's version is flawless.

yeah, but unfortunately, to play multiplayer, we had to get our hands on version 2.3, which meant getting our hands on an older version of the game. We are playing 4 person multiplayer now, without the new dark engine.

You and your friends did the right thing. And even without the New Dark Engine, you'll still experience some funky stuff.

It's curious that the SS2 Community did so much for the Single Player and somewhat forgot about the Multi Coop.

SS2 Multiplayer is quite unique.
