Left 4 Dead is awesome.

Far less so without voice chat though.

It felt like Zombie Panic Mod, but this is more enjoyable :)
btw. I expirienced some strange graphical issues, while playing one session online. Everything is maxed in the options, res: 1280x1024. 4xMSAA, and what not =D
the most of the map was shiny, like the textures were bleached out.
It did improve at the generator room, everything looked fine when the fire started out
Because of this it's easier for me to notice the undeads

It finished downloading this morning and I'm not sure if it's because I'm enjoying Fallout3 too much or if it's because I'm really bored of first person shooters in general but I wasn't too impressed with Left 4 Dead.

It maybe a future purchace if I'm really in the mood for multiplayer zombie action but at the moment, not too fussed.

I haven't read too much about it, is it as linear as it was in the demo? Again this might be because of fallout3 but surely it would so much better to have a sandbox city enviroment with zombies coming at you from every turn?

No that would just be really annoying. L4D is all about the cinematic arduous journey through the city to reach the airport, or through the hillbilly farmland to reach the isolated cottage or whatever, and that kinda demands that you know where the airport or the cottage is, and since the zombies spawn dynamically and all the damn time, you would get lost quite a lot and end up frustrated and annoyed.

Trust me, it's better this way. Not all games need to be open world.

Also have you tried it in co-op? Because it's pretty boring in singleplayer.

I haven't tried it in single player yet.
The demo expires in 5-6 days. Will it the unplayable as whole or do they leave the SP emo part?

I'm playing as Bill 8)

This game is epic fun, I can't tell the difference between Single Player and Multiplayer :D aside from that in Single Player the AI characters do stupid things, whereas in Multiplayer they actually split up and help out.

The games definately got my purchase.. its so damn fast paced and scares the shit out of you :D.

When you've tired of playing these two chapters, you can turn the tables and play as an infected by entering a series of recently discovered cheats. Keep in mind that these are developer cheats and not representative of the game as a whole. But playing as a tank and throwing slabs of concrete at survivors is very satisfying. Very.
Did anyone try thecheat mentioned in this preview, where you can play as tha undead  against the team of hu-mans?

left 4 dead and zombie panic are actually surprisingly different. Zombie panic is much more of a horror game whereas l4d is more action.

More of a horror when the zombie is controled by a human than it is when you know it's AI that's pulling the strings :)

I haven't tried it in Coop but I imagine it's better and it is quite scary when all the zombies come running at you but not my thing for the moment, too involved with RPGesque games.

What the hell is Ricochet?

Apart from that and DoD, I own every one of those already (thanks to Gelo who bought me Half-Life 1 to complete my collection =D> ).

Ricochet is basically a multiplayer Tron-esque Goldsrc mod where you stand on glowy platforms and throw discs at each other, to my understanding. Never played it. I own all of Valve's Source games, but only HL1 as far as Goldsrc goes.

I played it for a few hours way back when they included it in the 1.1.1.0 patch. The bodies don't dissappear, so the map fills up with decapitated bodies pretty quick. It was pretty fun actually.
