At a guess: estimate how many people are likely to get it, then multiply by the mortality rate. Given about 65 million people in Britain, of which roughly half would get flu if it went fully OMG OMG EPIDEMIC, and an apparently mortality rate of 0.2%, you get 65,000.

Job done.

Seriously though: it's fucking flu. No matter how much the media drum it up, it's still just flu. It's only terrifying to the immunocompromised, and idiots.

I would agree with you on this (with both parts) but I'm starting to reconsider that either my immune system is REALLY fucked up and still kicking or it's stone cold dead. I think I drowned it in sugary and fatty foods and then added long-term computer use as the proverbial salt to the mix.

I still love this site though: http://doihaveswineflu.org/

Heheh yeah. Reminds me of this: http://isthehorsedead.com/

My immune system would probably benefit if I started eating again.

Hah, lol'd at the site. And yes, same here but eating is such a hassle. It takes me away from the one thing I love: MY COMPUTER. You just can't do that to me, what if I like die... from horrible diseases or something while I'm gone!? Unless eating junk foods counts as "eating" now. Damn you stable healthy diets!

I had a laptop, used to always have laptops (mostly because my first one I never paid for and the other two were replacements lol, one from the manufacturers under the warranty, the other from insurance). Then when my third laptop crapped out me (spilled drink on it... AGAIN lol, this time it was TEA) insurance would only give me $500 (NZ) so I just built my own for roughly $1800 NZD (roughly $1100 US last I checked).

I've always had the "food" problem though.

I had a laptop. The word itself is Latin for "Don't drop this", which I did. It broke before I dropped it though, and I had to hold the screen up by hand (old technology had poor hinges).

After that, I wanted a Toughbook. Sure, they were still 486 type things in my pricerange, but they could be run over by a humvee into the sand in the Gulf War (they were old). I could also spill my tea on them. Instead I went with an alienware, which eventually had the keyboard disabled by someone else spilling coffee on it. Now, I have an awesome Lenovo, best laptop ever. Still, I wish it was at least somewhat waterproof.

On building a laptop, I remember wanting to do that with a VIA processor way back. Unless you meant a barebones laptop, how did you build it Psychotic?

I ended up building a desktop PC. I do love the mobility of laptops but I honestly hate the very little upgrade options. For the most part, my computer is "pre-built" but I changed the processor from dual-core to quad-core, from 1gb of RAM to 4gb and shoved a 9800 GT in it (I know the controversy about it how it's just an 8800 but I couldn't afford better).

What the hell?
Paul, I know you said no phone messages, but South Street's going up in smoke. We'll have to meet at the subway station.

You'd think it'd be some sort of discrimination but apparently not, it gets called a fucking syndrome. Totally "what the hell" worthy.
