Off Topic and .......well off topic

Post by bobby 55 »

I have seen through my perusing of many of the threads here that some people are concerned about the change from the original topic.Do you like your thread to remain strictly on topic? With so many people here being passionate about the games they play and all aspects of their games, there is the opportunity for discussion of the games with varying opinions.

I liken it to, how at dinner, you might compliment your hosts on a lovely meal and an hour later be discussing UFO's-leave that alone PSY ;)
So feel free to offer your thoughts or derail this thread.....i would.lol

But what did you just say about that football game? 2-2, that's a rather disappointing result for a team that's ahead 2-0 at half-time. I would have whooped their asses in FIFA on easy.

It makes for both a more interesting dinner, and forum visit :)

Threads here have a way of staying on topic, until said topic is exhausted, at which point it usually shifts. It can be pretty misleading though :)

I think a topic shift has to be natural rather than forced. It's interesting how it works, actually. Somebody will say something vaguely related to the original topic and then gradually this will open up new branches of conversation like a big exciting tree. I think brains do this naturally as well, mine certainly does at any rate. In fact I often jump several branches which sometimes makes it tricky for people to follow. Anyone else do that or is it just me? I'm aware my brain's a little screwy at the best of times but I like to think everyone else's is too.

Yes Morti i can relate to the brain reference. I think i described myself as manic earlier this week but your description of how the brain works is probably more apt.

I can't carry a conversation anymore because within 3 minutes I'll be quietly thinking about TNM or Hyperion or some other game or just general game development and forget to pay attention to what people are saying to me.

A BIT disturbing?FFS if they need companionship that badly, get a dog....or cat. There are also places that cater for other kinds of 'companionship' as well. Shit man that was like looking at a bad accident,i didn't want to look but couldn't help but look.

Edit:I used to have a girlfriend but she left unexpectedly. She farted and flew out the window
Extra Edit:Since some idiot forgot to do the'quote' option please refer to JCElios's link above

Are you talking to me? I don't know what you're on about! I swear!

I don't mind off-topic posts myself (this might seem evident though) so long as the entire topic hasn't been derailed but if it has already been derailed I'm not going to stop it and I'll just "go with the flow", so to speak. I agree with Trestkon, I think it does make a topic more interesting. But it's nice if people can give their opinion on the topic at hand BEFORE going off-topic.
