I think that's great. The original was kinda clean as it is.

Why haven't I received that first version from you yet? :P

I think v4 looks marvellous :D

It would fit right into the training hall :)

Incredible. You've hit the spot with V4. However, does anyone else think that the leaves look oddly balanced? It seems that if a centreline was dropped down the middle of the leaves, it would fall just outside of the pot. I haven't looked at the original recently, but I was sure that the whole model was more evenly balanced. I'm not sure how much this varies from the original design, but maybe some more leaves should be added to balance the rest out, or the rogue leaf should made a tad more vertical. As for the pot -- it looks sweet.

The corporate look has been nailed perfectly; the bland, generic design would make even the Microsoft accounting department dribble.

I'm amazed to see the progress going along so quickly, especially for a newbie! Amazing, mate. Keep up the unnaturally good work! :) I'm also glad to be able to see these items as they are being made -- it gives the community a greater input into the completion of the HDTP.

version 4b

back down to 246 polys

Made the leaves texture more like the original, leaves are more upright, lower poly and more of. :)

Wow, yeah that really is quite near perfect. Too bad it won't look that good in-game.

Won't it? Because it looks incredibly good now. Perfect; you've hit the spot exactly! :D

Unfortunately it won't use full-size JPG textures in-game, but 256-colour PCX. Neither will it support alpha-channels, so the edges of the leaves will look a lot more jagged.

But it'll still be a lot better than the old one.

Thats a shame. Stupid engine :(

But it's still a vast improvement over the original (and even over the previous attempts :))

It's for posts like this that Jonas will never be a Public Relations manager;)

Trestkon, I bet if we put you in charge of PR once we start working on commercial products, you'll be exactly like Peter Molyneux. If anybody asks you about the features of the game, you'll say stupid stuff like "TREES WILL GROW IN MY GAME" which will piss everybody off when we decide we need to cut that feature because of time/budget constraints.

And this case is particularly ridiculous, seeing how I'm actually commenting on ANOTHER project than ours! I have nothing to do with HDTP PR! I just made an attempt to turn down people's expectations a notch so nobody would be too disappointed when they see the final result.

So. Stop it :P

With a final result even close to what we've been shown, how could we be disappointed? Live and let die, Jonas. I thought Trestkon was funny. :)

Still, you're banned from PR when OTP becomes a real company;) THe Peter Molyneux route may be a bit extreme, but as far as PR goes, I'd try to never downplay features.

But I'm a PR whore...
