I was going to reply to that but then I realised that it makes no fucking sense.

My opinion on HDTP Release 1:

Awesome Models:
-Crowbar
-Boxes
-The Decorative items

Decent Models
-Baton (needs better animations, and to move around more when swinging like the original instead of being rigid)

Not-so-Good Models
-Gunther Hermann. While the model itself looks quite good, it does not fit into the game very well at all and tends to just stick out. Maybe this will be less noticeable when all the other characters are in game. He also has a few errors relating to areas of the model which can be seen through

also in before "HDTP iz ded" messages

Just a little (logical) point, if HDTP was dead, why would people still post on the forums, give support etc? Besides, if it were dead, none of us would take the time to point out the blatant stupidity in your pointless, idiotic trolling.

Gotta agree with Agent Pointless. I don't even know if I'm gonna play Deus Ex with this mod turned ON when it will be released but this hard work is wonderful and has to be praised because it is benevolent, beautiful and true to the original game. Saying "HDTP is dead" can make it dead, for sure. But saying "We are waiting for it eagerly and this will rock like nothing before" sure will keep it alive. If you haters don't want to play this then go play something else and don't mess with this awesome community project that you couldn't do yourself even in you wickedest dreams.

Hail to HDTP 8)

I seriously doubt you can talk the mod into being alive or dead. ;)
Whatever its current status, it's not decided by the posts of random people from the internets.

Well, by the time the mod is down to 1 or 2 people, as it is right now, it pretty much is a matter of whether those people manage to maintain motivation to pull through with it in the face of all the shit getting hurled at them. Seems like DDL got genuinely pissed at the trolls the other day, though I don't think he was about to quit because of it. At least not that time. But if the work keeps dragging on long enough, and the support stops completely while the bullshit keeps coming, I wouldn't blame him for just saying fuck it and pretending HDTP never happened.

It won't come to that now though, fortunately they're quite close to being done. I totally got their latest build, to make sure TNM is fully compatible with it, and it rocks my socks off. The new trees especially are ridiculously pretty, and instantly make any outdoor scene look 50 times better.

I believe they have a lot of support from the silent majority. It's unfortunate that they have to put up with crap from some, when all they're doing is improving the looks of a great game. As an attempt at anti-trolling: Yay HDTP team. :P

Yeah many people still support HDTP but there's just not much to say about it at this point. Only trolls think there is something to say.

Edit: perhaps I should make explicit out that I am still very much looking forward to HDTP :)

Edit #2: that tree looks awesome.

What should DDL be pissed about?
Remarks about the quality? Well, you can't please everyone, but I guess the majority would agree that the quality of the released parts is very good, so no reason to get upset about that.
If it's about accusations of not seeing any progress, he is the only one working on it atm, so he above all should know about how much progress there is.

I can understand the requests for some kind of progress report, though. That info which is (easily) available is from around 2006. So the average guy looking for some update will eventually come here (if he doesn't give up right away, thinking the project is dead), maybe ask about it and in turn be dismissed promptly, as it is often the case in projects like this that have a long history.
Just give us unwashed masses a screenshot every once in a while, showing some new model in action and most of us/them will be pleased.

Anyway, very cool trees!

Is there any intention to replace the cars with cars with round tires, btw?

The build of HDTP that I have is incomplete, not all the assets have been imported yet, so it's very possible that new models have been made for the crashed cars, yes.
