But yeah you probably won't notice most of the textures. The thing is, however, when you start using HDTP and New Vision, their big-ass textures will actually be reduced in size by the old renderers, but not by the new - in other words you won't be able to tell a significant difference until you install one of those mods (and they aren't done yet, so you'll have to wait I'm afraid).
There was a first beta release of New Vision, wasn't there? Or did they withdraw that becuase of the couple of issues it had?
As I recall, DaveW, and MR_CyberPunk weren't happy with the results, and just stopped "plugging" it. The downloads would still be there, but they're all pretty much gone now, due to filefront's expiration system.....
I uploaded it again, though:(As well as a small world texture pack someone else made)
Iam trying to use the new OpenGL renderer, as the old renderes didn't work with my new GFX Card (MSI Nvidia NX8600GT).
I even tried the settings presented on an earlier page, but DeusEx just seems to overwrite my settings with a Software Renderer, or it doesn't work at all.
Yeah, I'm having some problems with this renderer too. There are messed colors in the game (people faces, items like crowbar, main menu). And although I see the quality difference (nice shadowing), playing the game like this is a real pain.I placed of course the right file (OpenGlDrv) in Deus Ex system directory and made changes in DeusEx ini file (settings from the first page of this topic).
My computer configuration: mainboard FUJITSU SIEMENS D1688, processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz, graphic card ATI FireGL T2 RV350GL.
That's really odd. Try reinstalling a new copy of Deus Ex, and update it to the latest version. Then try installing the OpenGL renderer (a new or different version maybe?), but don't make any INI changes. If it works, you can selectively change the INI settings gradually, and identify any problems with the settings.
If DX works normally with the DirectX renderer, it likely isn't a system or hardware issue.
Damn, all those options
Does anyone know of a faq that explains what some of those do. Some are self-explanatory, but some are not. And which ore best. ie. DTX1 or 3, etc? How is the average joe supposed to know?

There is information on some of the settings at the website for the renderer, but it doesn't list everything.

Seems to have gone over its bandwidth quota. I guess he experienced a surge in traffic for some reason...maybe because of the TNM release. Or maybe Deus Ex was mentioned on a large forum somewhere and a wave of people were compelled to re-install it.
page still gives the out of quota message although its past the first of the month.
"You should be able to access this site on the first of next month." I wasnt.
