Chared Bodies

Post by chris the cynic »

Something that bugs me quite a bit is that if I set someone on fire they drop to the ground and two things happen. The first is that they go out, which is no fun (why should a corpse be fireproof?) the second is that when they go out they are pristine as if their body and clothing never even knew what fire was, much less actuall been on it.

Since what is bothering me is mostly is a visual thing I figure it falls under your stuff, so can you and will you make it so that when something dies of heat damage it looks burnt?

Very interesting, Could we make it so that when you use Napalm on people, they're skin melts and you can see their skeleton fall to the ground lol..

I dunno, I think there'll be mixed opinions on this.

The bodies are derker, at least, if they die by any heat weapon.

By then I hope we have fire resistant clothing.

They do turn more grey...I'm not sure what kind of work would need to be done to make the models take realistic damage, but it sounds extremely difficult- at least outside adding bullet and char decals.

If they have heat resistant clothing, they wouldn't be much effected, now would they? ;)

I vote we try doin' this. It'ld add to the game majorly.

TNM actually has all of this (well, except the napalm-skeleton thing, but that's a little out there anyway), thanks to Smoke and That Guy.

I've done it too!

....'cept I bet you guys have done it better. :(

Also, setting unconscious corpses on fire now works, and makes them dead.

I should release something...I really should. Damn mapping slowness.

The napalm-skeleton thing sounds like fun

But if HDTP could easily 'borrow' it from TNM if it is what chris the cynic suggests.

That's in TNM too, what a coincidence. You can also put out a burning corpse with a fire extinguisher so you don't set yourself on fire if you try to loot it.

All you have to do is change a few variables to change the textures to chared looking ones. It's easy to code, but you might need a bunch of textures unless you just make REALLY chared textures that don't resemble anyone that you use for everyone.
