Re: Stylization vs Detail (continued for the Revision thread

Okay, so seriously? Do you never actually play the levels - just open them up in the editor? Because that explains a whole lot about Revision. Eh? What's the problem? The fact that you don't seem to consider player perspective and the experience of getting there to be an important part of the area....

Re: Stylization vs Detail (continued for the Revision thread

It's one thing to argue that the way something is depicted is not faithful. I bring up Gunther because I believe the HDTP model renders him differently than the other one. I'll explain by using Homer Simpson. It's one thing that the art was updated like in your screen shots. It's another that the u...

Re: Deus Ex Revision is 2 days away

I'll leave this screen shot here - a great illustration of the silliness of the "openness, dead end I can't get into" slam that's getting made on Revision by Kim Winc h en and others: gmdx-ss01.jpg So this is at... the airport where they tell you to go to the hanger? You're comparing that to Hell's...

Re: Stylization vs Detail (continued for the Revision thread

One of the most obvious quirks of HDTP for instance, is that Bob Page looks unimportant compared to Walton Simmons. This isn't a problem if you're just playing so you can experience the new visuals or something new, but it is a baffling quirk if you're going in expecting to experience the story sim...

Stylization vs Detail (continued for the Revision thread)

Season One Simpsons weren't particularly easy on the eyes. They've streamlined, experimented and refined a lot over the years. However the principle remains constant. I'm unsure about "streamlined". Sure the finalized style of character design is more simplistic looking, however the animations have...

Re: Deus Ex Revision is 2 days away

Well argued. Like I said, there are outliers. With the added texture definition along with DX's reuse of textures indeed the texture patterns become more evident, but this only applies to large, commonly used generic surfaces, especially when the textures were made more gritty in some cases. As I m...

Re: Deus Ex Revision is 2 days away

Please don't imply (or state outright) that HDTP and New Vision aren't carefully crafted with respect for the original design, at least not without elaboration. The elaboration is that simple, they're not crafted with respect to the original design because: For the most part, the only things that a...

Re: Deus Ex Revision is 2 days away

I have no problems with negative or neutral reviews when they make sense. Critic is needed and we learn from mistakes. Revision evolved from all the critic collected back in the day when demo's were released. However, my main issues are when people start spreading things that aren't even true. Neve...

Re: Deus Ex Revision is 2 days away

Kim Wincen? Who is Kim Winchen? Who knows, who cares. I'm torn between pointing out the irony of this statement, and pointing out the staggering ineptitude of managing to mispell my family name right after typing it out correctly. But anyway, let's not pretend that my credentials would matter in th...
