This is to help keep track of who's voicing which character.

Audio Tracker URL

Recording Volume
It is easier to reduce the volume of sound files than it is to increase them, as such, we don't want recordings that are too quiet. Here's a sample from DX, recordings should be of a similar volume:

Random notes:

CSI guard will be voiced by Phasmatis.

I've finally been able to get my computer to work properly online again and I've started to upload stuff I've worked on to the FTP.

I believe I have the files for LoVaq done. Me and my stupid self forgot to zip it all into one folder when I uploaded it but I can change that later.

I'm also going to start uploading more stuff but for now what I have up there are files I believe to be complete. However, as for having a character's full lines completed I think LoVaq may be it for now.

Great job on the voice acting Tammy and Shane:-)

Listening to them now, very funny hearing you coach her on "Have at YOU!".

I am,

friend of mine is not. Or actually - I believe she's much better now. Out there, whatever -it- is.
Car accident. Peace to her.

Anyway, business as usual, there's always time to mourn. I really need to get busy.

--------------------------
The thing that frustrates me is the fact I cannot log onto MSN. Somehow. My email software/account seems to be borked, anyway, I'll try to catch up and pop up with some good news on VA front. We really need that bar to move.

Funerals suck.

On a more positive note (more of a random fact), I got myself a spanking new cool fantastic set of speakers. Which means, now I can actually listen to TG's recordings.

okay, I've been spending a lot of time thinking about voice acting today. I recruited Metche for the DowntownFemaleB part, I think it'll be okay even though she has a pretty distinctive voice and accent, because none of the people with that voiceset appear in the corporate sector. Only minor problem may be that one of the PZ dancers use that voiceset, and she's in the same map as Mercedes. But we'll see if it becomes a problem.

I took a look at the cast list and decided to upgrade it a bit. It now has three colour-coded statuses:

Lines Dispatched means the lines have been sent to the voice actor.
Lines Recorded means the voice actor has sent the recorded lines back to us.
Lines Processed means one of our sound techs has finished with them, and they now comply with our quality standards and fit into the RMS scale.

It is vital that all lines are uploaded to the TeamFTP as soon as they are processed.

I need to have a talk with Pointman (and optimally also Grub) about the list, as I lack an overview of how much was lost in the death of Grub's harddisc. I think we should start re-recording everything that he hasn't recovered yet, since he's not likely to get it back if he hasn't already.

Finally, I seriously think we need a system to manage the voice acting - something similar to the bug tracker. I'm probably going to ask Oi if he has time to create something that suits our needs. Preferably, I want it structured like so:

1) I enter a set of lines into the system. The form includes fields describing the name of the character, the name of the conversation, and possibly a short description of what kind of voice we need. From now on, the lines described by this entry will be handled as something like an entity of lines.

2) Pointman sees my new entry, which also functions as a go-code telling him the lines are ready to be recorded. He then chooses a voice actor to handle the lines if no actor has yet been assigned to the character in question. If necessary, he sends samples of the lines to a few voice actors to see whose voice fits the part best.

3) When he's chosen a voice actor, Pointman finds the lines in the conversation files, exports them to a text file, and sends them off to the actor. Then he goes back to the system and updates my entry with the name of the voice actor who's doing the lines. He also ticks the "Lines Dispatched" checkbox.

4) When the voice actor has recorded ALL the lines in the entity and sent them back Pointman, Pointy will forward the recordings to a sound tech and update the entry to say which tech is processing the entity. Then he will tick the "Lines Recorded" checkbox in the VA system.

5) When the sound tech is done with the lines, he will upload them to the FTP, go into the VA system, and tick the "Lines Processed" checkbox.

I hope Oi can do something like that, it seems simple enough in my head.

It would also be cool if this system could access the recorded lines once they are on the ftp
