What do you think about sky domes? I dunno if that will look ok but it's something to think about.

BTW I can log in now heh I was typing my password wrong.

It might work if we assign a texture to the entire dome and then use the align to ceiling function. We'd have to be careful not to distort the texture too much though.

I was thinking it would be good to use a model. Put the model in the skybox and it should work, plus you shouldn't have to worry about seams and stuff because model textures don't do that.

I know UT2003/4 use models with skyboxes, I'll take a look and see how they did it.

due to avatar similarities, i actually thought jonas was having a freaky moment and having an all out discussion with himself wherein he both asked questions and conjured up solutions.
but i guess that's because i was just reading bash.org and got in the mode for that sort of thing.

i would have to say that the model idea is good thinking. i've once tried to create a biodome in a skybox, and it turned out pretty good but because of the way lighting works, i couldn't really create a "massive" feel to the skybox. if i actually made the biodome that large, it jacked my fps.

I've looked into the dome thing and I've come up with this.

The clouds also move slightly but they are part of the model too.

That looks quite nice. Next step is to try it out with a nice terragen sky/mountain/day texture:D

This is a pretty interesting experiment \:D/

I think it would look very nice if the buildings weren't so tall, so you couldn't see them bend a bit inwards with the dome. However, I'm very excited to try this out with a snowy mountain skybox and see how that will look :o

He's an Aussie. You need to be more understanding of this. They wrestle crocodiles and all that jazz.
